Glad you released the possum, too. I've had them steal eggs, and have assumed it was them on a few deaths, but I've only ever for sure caught them eating....cat food. I relocate, too. A state park when possible, far away from other people with chickens.

Good luck finding homes for roosters. Most people already have plenty. Purebreds stand a chance as people are looking for new bloodlines, but crossbreeds really don't. We'll be putting at least seven roosters in the pot this weekend...two gorgeous OEs, three Buff Orpingtons, one Golden Cuckoo Marans and one splash English Orpington. Wish I could keep them all, but we just can't. younger birds will replace them all.

I hear they make good pets for people who rescue the babies from road kill mothers!
