Trying to start my girls out with some warm milk over toast....Don't get to do this much but..(too expensive!)..LOL I do have a dark brahma that is usually somewhere in the picture...??

Steambath????????? Not here. We are predicted wet snow tomorrow and colder temps. Thank goodness we are having the trees cut around the house and powerline to the house. I think the major ones were cut yesterday. Today will be some hugh poplars and a multitrunk maple. So if the power is off because of the snow we will not be the cause.
Also i won't feel hemmed in in the house. Yeah! Its amazing how fast trees grew here.
My hen is still limping around but is not really eatting right either. I hate to lose her. I think she may have injured her leg when she jumped from the roost to the floor. She is my only lavender orp. If its not an injury it maybe MS. Ugh! I lost a whole flock to it one yr. Terrible, I cried for a long time. Waited for two months , used a new coop and ground area , and new hens. I have not had disease since . I get NPIP each yr. and ck'ed for MS/MG. We do everything right but somehow disease can slip in to claim our flock. sad

Hellos everyone. My husband, kids and I just moved to Eastern North Carolina about 3 weeks ago. Sadly I had to give all my chickens away before we moved, but I am happy to say that we just put an offer on a house and hope to be moved in by mid January. I plan on getting more chickens as soon as we are settled in. I am considering getting some ducks as well. Does anyone else here have ducks? If so how are they compared to raising chickens? We will be converting an old small horse stable into the chicken coop and I was wondering if I would need to keep the ducks and chickens separated or if they would be okay living together.
It seems like a lot here have a wide variety of birds living together without any issues. I would say you should be able to keep them together.
Where about in NC are you moving to?
