Had some nice Chicken Therapy today.

Went out, cleaned out one of the coops earlier. Just now came in from digging around in the dirt for worms. Only one of my chickens really will come right up to me simply because she has learned over the years that if I'm on the ground, worms are to be had!! I've had her the longest and she will get right at the spade to get that worm as soon as I turn over a layer of dirt. I think she must have eaten two dozen of them. Her yokes should be nice and orange the next time she lays.
Then I came in with a freshly laid egg from one of my sultans since she was laying while I was digging. And boy can she make a racket!!

That makes ten eggs today. Not bad at all. Four will go to DH'S breakfast tomorrow and two will be DS's lunch. The rest, they go to the batch to sell.

Southern Belle, There is a store in Moorsevilleand Charlotte that sell's Reedy Fork Farm's organic feed. Four Dogs Pet Supplies 2630 N. Davidson Street Charlotte, North Carolina , 28205, 980.298.6046, The Feed Bucket - 325 W. Statesville Avenue Mooresville, NC, 28115 704-664-2337, there's several locations that sells it. It's some of the best I've found and the chickens do really well on it. I've seen a huge difference in their eggs and feathers since starting it.
I will have to check and see if that's available on my side of the state!

Is there anyone on here that sells Welsummer and Olive eggers? I'm looking for different colors for my egg basket. :) I haven't had any luck with olive eggers. Needing pullets no more roosters for me, I have 2 already. lol I love this thread nice to see lots of others in NC that have chickens. I'm in Kannapolis NC.
I have both. Currently doing a test hatch on them both. My olive eggers are not Wellie crosses though, but Golden Cuckoo Marans crosses, so are barred birds. Nice olive eggs they produce, though! I'm in Parkton, between Fayetteville and Lumberton.

Thanks so much for the feed advice! Sounds like everyone else is busy with gardening as well. We don't have our potatoes in either so I'm hoping this weekend! One can only try;)

Good morning folks

It's good to see so many gardening these days. We don't
get much in but do enjoy what we grow. The girls here
have started back to laying.......got a little over 4 dz eggs
yesterday. Once all the hens are laying I expect to see
about 6-8 dz a day........just a few eggs.
