Enjoy every moment while you can! They will grow much faster than you realize. One day you will wake up and realize that they are all grown up.

What an absolutely glorious day!! Hope all the Easter Egg hunts, family gathers, and such have gone well today! Happy Easter!

56 new chicks out of the incubator, with another half-dozen to a dozen still working on it. The brooders are full. I can't decide how many I "need" to keep! All of them!! (Plus the ones from lat weekend...and the weekend before that...and the ones due the next three weekends...I think I need an intervention.)

Easter chicks!

I switched from a heat lamp to a heating pad for this hatch and the chicks are loving it! I had thought of getting a heat plate, but a pad is much cheaper and the chicks love the little tunnels it makes! :)

I posted a question on here a couple of weeks ago about using Strike III dewormer and asking if there is a withholding period. Scottcaddys, thanks for your response, but the site you gave said the same thing as the bag. I did some more digging and found their website and it says that there is no withholding period for using this product. I know this may sound like I'm speaking bad of Scottcaddys response, I'm not and sorry if it sounds this way. Was just wanting to let people know about this dewormer product. The website says it's a new product. I have been using/withholding for a week now and will keep using it for another week. It says to mix the product with a 50 lb bag of feed or use the scoop provided. I'm using the scoop method as I don't use a full bag of feed for about a month or more. I will try to keep everyone posted as to what I see. Haven't noticed anything in poo so hopefully didn't have any to begin with. Like I said before, don't mean for this to sound bad, haven't heard of anyone using this product and trying to let everyone know about it and it's benefits. Thanks and have a great rest of the weekend and a good week.

Happy Easter y'all! I gave Margo and Cecelia a good talking to about getting in them laying boxes and giving up some eggs! Lol! When I was a kid I used to put a golf ball in the nest to trick them into starting up. So tonight I snuck in a couple of the kids plastic Easter eggs in the laying box. Maybe the girls will get the idea. Any advise on helping them to lay better. They are light Sussex and black Australorp that were hatched last May, so almost a year old. Thanks!

I missed your original post. Very interesting! It does have a withdrawal for slaughter (only three days!) but none for eggs. Where did you find it? I may be trying that myself! When I have to withdraw eggs, it makes my egg customers very unhappy. Even rotating pens, all the blue and green egg layers are in one pen, and people get unhappy when those are missing! Thanks!
