Hello! I have I have 7 month old heritage Rhode Island Red rooster. We hatched him ourselfs for 4H project from eggs we receive from Poultry Unit of our State as Heritage( he is not production line of RIR). He is not getting along with my alha rooster any more. Looking to fined good home for him I live in Salisbury NC.

Those of you in the Sandhills area of NC, what are you doing in preparation for the possible weather that's been forecasted? @3KillerBs I can't remember who else is in the same area

We picked up anything loose in the yard and around the coop, but we figured that with -- what was it? -- 4 hurricanes last year the basic coop and run structure was sound. If I lose the picnic canopy I lose the picnic canopy (it survived Zeta when the better quality one in another portion of the yard didn't).

I've got straw bale wind baffles in the run as part of the winter prep so the ladies will be able to get to their feeder and waterer.

I happened to have a few bins of straw from my SIL, who had more than she needed for her dog kennel and didn't want loose straw hanging around, so I put that down in the more sheltered parts of the run to give them something to do when it's pouring.

After a couple months in the weather the bales are not this pretty anymore, but they're still doing their job (and should make fabulous garden mulch later this spring).
