I could not stand leaving them out there with out a source of heat.

Finally made it home, and got everyone settled into their temporary accomodations for the night...my goodness they sure were hungry and thirsty. Figured it up and those birds have traveled nearly 5000 miles in less than a week....here's hoping they sleep well tonight because they're all in the diningroom/hatchery. I also picked up 3 Partridge chicks less than a week old; Judy doesn't raise Partridges, so she sent them to me

. We had set up a small cooler, lined with a heating pad, for them to use on the ride home......boy---that didn't work. My husband took my hat, made it into a little nest, put the 3 chicks in it, and sat it between his legs.....he "purred" them right to sleep...that man does

baby Silkies.

Trish I was very serious about setting you up with Silkies in the Spring; I always have extras that I can't use in my breeding pens, or for showing. Sounds like all we need is warm weather, huh?

My folks are leaving for Alabama in the morning! Mom gave me an awesome wool hat she just knit for me! Wow it's really warm. My Roo would really scream if he was wearing some of that.

Do I knit ?

Well, no.

My GrandMother taught me how to knit when I was about 8 years old. I haven't knitted since...but it was interesting. I am now 62 years old and don't remember how. (I've had Alzheimer's as long as I can remember...Ha-Ha !!! )
(It seems I have always had something else to do. And I probably don't have the patience for it (or the finger dexterity).

But, it has always impressed me that people can do other things ...like converse or watch TV...while knitting. I certainly would need to pay attention to my knitting. (One-Track Mind....or perhaps Half-Track)

But, I have sometimes been able to weld while carrying on a conversation. (It's a LOT easier than knitting...and MORE FUN !!!)

But, my late wife seriously FROWNED UPON me spreading my completed work upon the bed (Welding..NOT knitting..)

I doubt that I'll take up knitting at this late stage in the game..........maybe "tiddly-winks" though. (IF I can remember HOW...)

Welcome home BC, I can't believe those chickens traveled so far, they should get freguent flyer miles out of that. I bet they were happy to get into some place where they could stretch out. Aww how sweet that your hubby purred those babies to sleep. Partridges I need to see pictures please[of them all when you get rested up] I am so excited about these Silkies, put my Muscovy back in with her sisters tonight so she'll stop wanting to go into the smaller coop, It'll take a while but the reason she went there in the first place is because our youngest duck was picking on her they can be so mean to each other but hopefully now that it's turned cold they will just concentrate on staying warm. I don't knit at all being a lefty noone could teach me. My mom taught herself how to crochet but I can't sit still to teach myself things like that, Well ya'll have a great night and I'll talk to ya in the morning. it actually made it to 29 today after 1 for a low, we thought that it was spring!
