mornin' Coffee Cow

BOSS= Black Oil Sunflower Seed
we feed it to the wild birds; we also feed the shelled BOSS to the Silkies mixed in their food; some chickens will eat it with the shell on~~but not mine

oohhh... *facepalm*

I thought it was some big thing that I was missing... but I do feed mine sunflower seeds

I get a bag and mix it in with the scratch. I give them a scoop of the mix every day, except for garden time, then they get the vegies with bad spots

They like them in the shell.... but, this is going to sound bizarre... they do not eat the corn out of the scratch mix... they eat everything but the corn.
I need to find a better mix of stuff to feed them.

Good morning!

It is 2 degrees out right now and have been snowed in since friday and do not think we are getting out till thursday. I hope everyone is happy and warm

Bat Cave Silkies: Thanks for explaining that silly me didn't know that

My gosh allaboutpet~~where the heck are you that you've been snowed in so long??
I live in the sticks, but the county even got around to scraping the road that leads to our mountain.

By the way~~~I don't believe there is any such thing as a "stupid" question.....stupid is NOT asking the question

Morning all, We had 7 this morning, and a lot of snow final 91/2 in. it will take till march to melt since we're on the north side

...Dh did get out and is on his way to pick up grankids at N.C./Ga. line. nope they aren't hitch hiking there, thats where their ride is taking them too. So we will be busy till next Mon. Happy to hear everyone is good and staying warm. Suppose to get close to 40 here today makes me so happy to see the sun, even if we only get about an hour of it right now, at least I can see it. Hey BC some of us newbies to shows are interested in finding out all about them like what time they usually start to where the heck is the one in Morganton and any other info. you might like to share. Thanks and ya'll have a good one.... Trish....

Good Morning Trish

I was wondering where you were
Our snowfall stopped Sunday~~didn't know you were still getting some

Sounds like you're going to be BUSY til next week with the grandkids.

I'll be glad to share show info....usually Matt, from Morganton posts all the NC show info on a thread under the Shows/Chickenstocks forum. Figure if I can get all of you'll to come to a show~~I'll get to meet you. I'm planning on going to one on Jan. 15th---but it's in Jefferson, GA--probably a bit too far.

Thanks BC I am so excited about going and seeing all the different breeds and meeting you and others that I've been talking to on here. We got snow up till yesterday morn a couple more inches. It came in behind us which happens alot. Anyway glad it's over. I love snow and it's so pretty but now I am ready for it to go away.

.. Last week we couldn't even get out of our road because of the ice, our son had to bring some salt so dh could spread it on the steepest part. I was surprised he was able to get out this morning. I hate to use stuff like that, would rather be snowed in. But at least it didn't have to be put down close to the house or animals. Everyone is so quiet outside today, hopefully they'll feel better in a little while as it warms up. Nice to hear your little roo is feeling frisky, Thank goodness all of my chickens are healthy, Have you ever heard of Oxine? I ordered some and have been using it in their house and waterers it sounds like something that would be of benefit to us all chicken people. Heres the link in case anyone might want to read about it. www.shagbarkbantams.com talk to ya'll later.

We are in the small town of Franklin. I live out of city limits up a gravel road all the way at the top I am about a mile from my mailbox. So to the main road I am almost 1 1/2 miles away and they don't do anything to the gravel road so I am stuck till it melts ( sigh )

I will post the registration and contact details for the Morganton show next week in the Shows forum on here. I try to do it about 6 weeks before the show date. The Morganton winter show will be February 12 at the Burke County Fairgrounds which are at 145 Bost Rd, Morganton, NC.

I haven't talked to Brian yet, but we normally get the heated building for the Feb show. This is the building just above the livestock building.

I got out of the backyard today. Ran a few errands and picked up some starter. I then went by mom's work and tied some birthday ballons to her Escape.
