North Carolina

Well according to the previous comments I'm glad I didn't attempt to go down the roped off isles. I figured that was the case and I had to leave too early before the judging was done...I'll know next time to schedule a later arrival time...Thanks for all of the comments regarding my original post on the show. I am looking forward to meeting some of you in person, until then I'll just keep asking questions in cyber world...

where does one purchase a "Show" type chicken? One of the things I did learn is the Phrase "Hatchery Stock" wichi if I interpreted correctly is not "Show" quality...

Also, I have noted a lot of conversations on here with the accronyms (assuption) of DH, DD etc...What do these mean? I'm not that hip...

Chickychickybaby~~thank you for the compliment on my Partridges...that is my FAVORITE color, and one I've been working hard on.

greenacresgirl~~thank you too for the compliment on my Silkies; it's the only breed I raise, and they're all my "babies"

There just wasn't enough time to talk to all the BYC'ers.....I felt like all I got to say to alot of them was "hi"...hope everyone will return in 3 weeks to the Unifour show and we can actually spend some time together.

Hi All

Glad you all had a good time. I wish I could have been there, its just too far for a day trip.

P.S. DH= dear husband
DD= dear daughter

etc......

Some times you will hear Pet Quality, too. That means a bird that may have standard disqualifications (DQs) or is just not up to the standards in some way.
Hatchery stock is usually purchased from a big hatchery and those rarely if ever meet standards for show.

A BYCer made a list of acronyms that are used on the forum...... I think on a blog.....Poultry Acronyms
