The show yesterday was wonderful-
I did not get to speak to as many as i woulda liked and even missed the pic...
I volunteered my services to help the hosting club out in the concessions...well, it was going to be a poundcake donation...but Carol needed HELP!!!..so I was there for about 5 hours... It's hard for the groups to get all of it going and many show birds themselves...Most clubs serve food as a courtesy and make very little, but any profit goes back to the group...so by all means support the sponsoring club by patronizing the food and raffle tables! (AND for any that happened through the concessions...I HAVE NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN FAST FOOD SERVICE-as i'm sure it was apparent!!!)
But i do make a pretty mean pound cake
Folks yesterday were patient and extra helpful...I think most were just happy to have some time seeing their friends and spending family time after a dread of a winter!
As i was leaving and getting my own birds boxed and returned to the car...uphill....further than i remember parking...with an armload of chickens...a SUPER NICE guy put his things in his car and came back and helped me carry my boxes!!! WOw!!!
OH!!!! AND a near TRAGEDY my daughter LOST her LUCKY necklace that she usually wears to the shows....(a cheap costume necklace from the 70s...that belonged to my mother that passed away when i was a child...it had been repaired at the jeweler twice and link is broken again so she carried it in her pocket) Seems it dropped out at some point...
AFTER MUCH EMOTIONAL TURMOIL....WE LOOKED ALLLLLLL OVER (Matt can vouch for that!)...nothing...even had a teary breakdown at the car...
I explained to her that it was just a "thing"...sometimes these things happen...she was so hurt and angry at herself...
In desperation I scribbled a LOST sign for the main doorway on a composition paper and taped it to the front building door...IF FOUND RETURN TO CONCESSIONS PLEEEEZE....REWARD!!!!! In an hour or so a man came forward and asked about a reward for the lost necklace and brought it forth from his pocket...He had found it on the ground...I JUMPED OVER and THREW MY HANDS AROUND HIS NECK LIKE A CRAZY PERSON!!!!
Now...that reward...NAME YOUR PRICE....!!! "AW, nothin'" he said....
I found it the least i could do to hand him a slab of chocolate poundcake.
GREAT DAY! (oh, my birds didn't do too badly either...sheesh...after all that whO CaReS!?!?!)
Hope to meet more of you all next time!
Kim
