I am just outside of a wee town called Middlesex...It's SE of Raleigh in Johnston County (although Middlesex itself is Nash County). Yeah...we're basically in the middle of a forest.

We are getting the wind this morning. It comes and goes but when it gusts it get kinda scary! Hope it doesn't hang around all day.

I don't know how fast the wind is blowing, but it is certainly blowing hard around here...almost feels as if I'm in a vacuum!!

And Homesteader 2010. one nice thing about BHep being close is she is always hatching eggs so might be your new Best Friend for chicks... and

also for a sweet chicken that lays nice size eggs you can't beat a Brahma, they have feathered feet and are large but very sweet natured..

Matt....I hear you on these gas prices. Ouch! I just put $25 in my minivan and got a little over 1/2 tank.

I may rethink going to W/S myself. Its a 2 1/2hr trip to boot.

Wind & rain here. 1st time my runner ducks have ever seen rain. They are having a ball in the puddles. Should get out there and get some pics.

OOOO I'm going to pick up 2 Pekin drakes tomorrow, meeting the family 1/2 way in Kinston about an hour away. They have to move in 2 weeks and can't keep them. Seen the post on the duck section & CL & called. She found homes for the girls, so I'll take the boys. Now I need to get them some girls for company. Do you see how this works!!!!! And if I have to order Pekins why not throw in a few Runners....

Did I mention I set 28 eggs yesterday. I won on auction. Auction was for 10 plus....she sent 27!!!! Plus I stuck in a tiny bantam egg, from one of my pullets.
14 Golden Cucko Marans
7 BLRW
6 Black Jersey Giants
1 tiny Bantam

AND just picked up 8 Serama eggs....
