Looks like the hatching is about finished.
Out of 14 Lav. and split eggs, I had 11 that looked good when I candled at lockdown. I put all into lockdown just in case.
8 of the 11 hatched.

5 lav and 3 splits.

We really NEED a ladder as there are cobwebs in my bathroom that I am desperate to get rid of...stupid peaked ceiling!!

Also there's a wasp nest I am making my DH take down (it's in the vent to our Master Bthrm) and he needs a ladder to reach it....especially important to keep those away from the house as I am HIGHLY allergic!!

As for the DD...well, her stomach "bout" seems to come and go. She's her normal self all things aside...I'm beginning to wonder if it's just not her teeth. The doctor (when I called) said that it is common for babies to get some sort of intestinal GERD, and to feed her a bland diet...I asked how could rice, steamed veggies and "milk" be any more bland??

We do have four teeth peeking out from under the gums...so I'm praying they pop up sooner rather than later.

Can't stand to see her in discomfort!! I don't have any Sweet Potatoes on hand (a shame as they are her favorite veggie too) but I did offer her a slice of my granny smith apple in that mesh feeder thingie...and she LOVED it...gnawed that thing down in no time. I might try to put it in the freezer for a little bit and see how that works!!

Coop Update: I go today to pick up some windows for the coop/barn and a ladder. If the weather is nice, we're getting a babysitter and jumping in and working on getting that barn/coop DONE!! Most likely we will only get the roof framed and the windows framed (possibly installed...not sure how that works, that's DH's job!!

). After that...it's just walls and a few more odds and ends!!

It's coming along!! Now if only the weather cooperates!

Thanks for all the "welcome"s everyone. I getting excited about this chicken thing and I hope the weather clears out for the weekend like they say it will and we can get the coop finished. I am ready to get these babies moved into their new house and let them enjoy a big run instead of the little pen they go in now when it is nice outside. Also I swear I hear one of them TRYing to crow....they are 7 weeks old. Do they start that young? It is very weak if that's what it is, but it is so cute!

to all you newbies too, it's pretty cool and over cast here in the mountains, hope ya'll are having better weather, well we have chicks due to hatch this coming monday the 4th, my little frizzle is sitting on 5 eggs, so looking forward to seeing little chicks running around, those pictures are so cute SBL, I really look forward to seeing all your pictures, and Matt the best thing for worms is a good dose of cod liver oil...

Hope you get to work on your coop this weekend Ruthann looks to be a nice day on sat. and yes Ruthann the duck is still laying they had about 14 eggs in their bedroom the other day with no sign either one wanted to sit so I took them out and that evening her ans Sophie were so upset with me.. They need to get their butts in there and start sitting if they want to keep them, lol hope little one is feeling better, those teeth can really make them feel bad, I used paragoric for mine when they teethed now it's probably a class 1 narcotic,lol well everyone ya'll have a great day and keep those baby pictures coming they light up my day... wheres Bhep today she usually has something hatching

ML - I can't believe you took Ruthann's eggs away from her...How cruel are you!!

I guess only one of the Ruthann's is feeling broody and the one that is...isn't hatching any eggs...

I have heard about paragoric - WHY do they have to take these wonderful things away from us?? Who cares that it's opium based...if it works, let it work!! Vicadin is opium based too...so are many other pills - Sheesh!!

What do doctors know anyway?? lol. If nothing works...I might have to resort to whiskey...although, I don't have any...hmmm. I tried the natural teething tabs, but the stupid stores here stopped selling them!!

Well, she's sleeping, so that's a good way to let them pop up...while she's dreaming of Prince Charming!!

Em - Any Emu's yet? I am dying to see pictures of these monsters!!

I'll try to learn patience as I await news of their arrival!!

Matt - I can't say as I have ever had worms aside from on a hook or in a fish's mouth (which I've only ever done once...and the fish spit the hook back out and I "caught" my dad in the thumb!!

) so I can't say much...I'm sure Em has a solution for you to get rid of them if the cod liver doesn't work!!

Although it might be up there with the black algae

SCM - Any luck with the candling? Are you seeing anything with your eggs?

I'm praying they're not duds...we NEED cochins!! They're TOO CUTE not to be needed!! How is everything else going? How is your coop looking? If you need help, we're not that far from you. I'd gladly bring my DH over and let him help!! (We could sit and chat while we watch the men...hmmm...my DD might take a fancy to your boys though...hmm...she's not allowed to LOOK at boys until she's 30...

Here I am.


Nothing hatching here until Monday. They are my own mixes, not sure what to expect or how many.

My last hatch was over the weekend 8/14 hatched, again my mixes, got some interesting things going on here. 5 are Silkie mixes, 2 are mixes with Gold Laced Polish and appear to have top hats & beard and I think I see GL feathers growing in. The other 3 are mixed with a Creole OEGB. They look like gold & silver chipmonks. All are quite cute. I will work on getting pictures.

Got my ducklings yesterday. 1 was in sad shape & died during the night

I was sent an extra, so I am not out a duckling. I will get pics of them too.

Wishing for the weather to warm up & dry up. The mud is getting annoying. The ducks are the only ones enjoying it.

Not sure why they must play in the mud. They have perfectly clean water in their pool.

Off to clean cages.... Ooo joy!

and to move my Cohins out to the barn, they have passed the quaritine time and I ready to join the masses.
