Will the storms stop please and give my pens a chance to dry out! I can['t fre range because of neighbors close by and putting gardens in. i jsut look out the door at work and it looks like it is going to pour.

Bhep, your DD with Rascal is very cute. It is a shame that he has a stright comb, otherwise he looks like he will be a stunner judging by his feather lacing at this age. I do agree that they are look to be roos, but I would hang on the the one on the left a while longer. My a couple of my splash pullets had me convinced that they were roos until they were 17 to 20 weeks old, these guys mature slower that some breed .

I have at least one pip in my hather this morning. Set 12 eggs, pulled one early on and one early quitter so 10 to lock down late Saturday night after getting home from the horse show. we got two 3rd and a fourth, this time out. Scores were not that great on Saturday, but sunday he got a 65.7 % with an 8 for his 20 meter circle at the canter and an 8 for his fianla halt. Halts are usually pretty solid up front and w wiggly butt, but his last one was Square and still!

I am so itchy!!

my first case of poison ivy in YEARS...all because I HAD to go out yesterday and paint/caulk. Oh yeah, I am looking forward to those chicks eliminating all the grass/weeds/leaves/etc...in that area!! I thought it was going to rain, it looked/felt like it, but nothing has happened. I hope those of you to the west are battening down the hatches, just in case...I am spending the day upstairs working on some baby dresses!!

Any ideas for a little girl's first birthday present?? Sorry, the family already HAS chickens!!

why does a 1 yo need a present anyway?? lol...I am so out of date apparently!!

A chicken doll, my son loved his to the point my mom has to fix both wings. Once I get it back and find its outfit I'll post pics of it. It has a plastic head, wings, and feet, and the body is stuffed.

NH, I also do a baby quilt for the 1st birthday gift when we go to first birthdays. I try to do it mainly for close friends and family of course... but lately I'm able to knock out small quilts in a day or 2. I am YET to get my daughter's twin size quilt done for her room though. I've been working on that one for 8 months and still not done cutting all the swatches.

The chickies in the house are doing great though! They are keeping me very happy, and all have wonderful personalities. I'm going to hate that I can't keep them all.

Hey question for you all. I have part of the run covered and that is where i hang the girls food and water and my IP camera is mounted. Currently, I have sifted soil down. I did put up a gutter to decrease the amount of rain that blowes in the front of the area but after this last storm we all went through a lot of my timothy hay got wet...and the constant dust in their water food and on my camera is bugging me.... I am thinking of putting pea pebble down just in that area. What is all of your experience and advice.

I prefer play sand over rocks... those are more expensive and the birds like to dust bath so it makes it hard for them to do that.

Besides, I think if they scratch and fling a few of those stones like they do, you may end up with a cracked camera.

Can someone tell me what the heck is going on here !

Hatched 5 other BLRW from a different BYCer on March 17th. They came in an assortment with Cuckoo Marans( and I won't even go there again ) and Jersey Giants. So now I am studying combs. Well guess what ? 3/5 have straight combs.

On top of the strange colored Cuckoo Marans, straight combed BLRW.... I have FBCM from yet another BYCer, 3 roosters (of course) and 1 is getting barring ! AND only 1 has feathered legs !

Their stock are SUPPOSED to be from Greenfire Farms. BOLNGNA !!!

I really have had it !!

So off to the auctions these all go !

Well the good news is..... once I get rid of all these chicks, I have room for more !
