North Carolina

Hey everyone! I haven't posted in a bit as I've rarely had a free arm to type but I have been checking in on you all.

Bhep, I hope the little ones all make it out ok!!! I bet you'll get the hang of the new bator in no time. I hope you don't have to help all of those chicks out of their shells - that's a lot of work with so many! What a mess! Shoot me a message and I'll come help ya out!!! I had to help just one out and I was a nervous wreck and took forever - one tiny chip of shell at a time. But I was (still am) a nervous newbie and you're probably a pro! Good luck!!! If you pull an all-nighter keep posting I'll probably be up - story of my life at present!!

Fyrekitten! Good luck with the move! My husband and I own a small real estate firm in Cary and while I'm no help in the areas you're looking feel free to ask general real estate questions if needed! I love your signature - it made me smile!

Vfem - you can always give me the address and I'll have my kids in the car and play dumb - "well officer, I didn't know they were anybody's chickens..."

G&A - quick story - I have a soft spot for all animals so when my dogs dug up a hibernating snake I picked the poor mud-covered thing up and stuck it in a tuperware container to take it into the wildlife hospital I volunteered at for years. Well, the nice ride on the passenger seat of my warm car woke the little guy and by the time I got there he had worked off most of the mud and was now very much awake and striking at me through the clear container.

Hope you're all doing well and have a wonderful Easter!

Hi everyone, Beth, I can't imagine how it must be , we had only one under mama yesterday that was having a struggle and I worried all night I was going to go out there this morning and find it had died or I was going to have to help, but thankgoodness it has hatched. I've never done that either. I hope everyone has a great day, and as beautiful a day as we had yesterday.!All mommies and babies doing fine.

Did ok last night and this morning, hatched out a bunch of stickey chicks. 12-14 ish. I lost count. We are on our way to church, so I have not counted all the hatch yet. I am thinking 40 something. I finally got my Blue Cochin (4) and 1 splash, 5 BLRW.

Enjoy !!!!

Congrats! Is the blue cochin from the chicks you got from me or did those just start laying? I need to get a nest box out for the frizzle hen that is close to the same age.

Happy Easter everyone!

Glad things are going better, Bhep!!! And I saw this and thought of you: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/zip/2343385788.html - 2 free ducks! I know you just don't have enough critters right now and could use a couple more!!! Seriously though, if you need someone to take a couple of those Cochins off your hands you know who to call!!!

So glad they hatched for you and can't wait to see pics of them all!!!!

ML - Glad your little slow poke hatched! Great news!

Hope you're all enjoying your Easter. My little guy with the broken foot woke up with a fever so there goes our plans.

It better just be a bug picked up at all these dr. appts. and not an infection in the fracture! I am very scared about that!

Question for you all - my 2 sets of chicks are 10 days apart. Do you think that when my guys hit 1 week old tomorrow that it would be a good time to incorporate them with the big kids? I've just moved them up to the playpen and they are very happy and I think there's enough room. Just worried about the age/size difference!

Thanks and enjoy the day!

Congrats on the hatch BHep, looking for those pictures too

just my 2 cents scm, but I'd put them together with something in the middle so they can see each other and get use to each other before intergrating. one week is a big diff. in age with chicks. maybe do this for about a week then try them all together. maybe make somthing out of scrap wood and hardware cloth or screen that way their all together but the littlest can get hurt or pecked on.. Hope your little ones starts feeling better and you might think about trying out for Mrs. Universe with all the muscle you have grown since carrying him around..

Thank you, Miss Lydia - I'll scratch my noggin for a while and try to figure out a way to make that work. That sounds like a good idea! My little ones fever is now at 102.6 so keep your fingers crossed for the poor little guy!!!!!
