I would like to go, trade roosters if possible for hens (not breed specific). Parking on Person street is going to be awful!

What kind of roosters do you need to rehome?

roos crow when they feel like it, it gets loud around here cause some people around us also have roos so they all sing together. I can hear some way off in the woods in every direction when the singing starts. lol

I have heard them start up an hour or two before sunraise.

Ramirez, I need to rehome some EE roos, most look like my avatar, but I have some bright red and white ones too. I bought a lot of 22 chickens in March, they were 6 months old, and I had no idea what I was getting into... I have 9 roos in the 19 total EEs that are left!

I would love to trade for hens, even 2 roosters for every one hen, otherwise they are going to freezer camp in a couple of months and we will just have to buy some pullets.

I have 8 Muscovies 6 hens and 2 drakes, so hoping for girls from 3 eggs. or we will be eating our first duck. {I really don't want to do that either}I also have 1 Emden gander who is now 4 years old my Muscovy hen hatched him. Did you hatch in a bator or with a broody?

Loving all the pictures.

I hatched with my mini advance brinsea - I have one more egg to hatch (

) in the next day or so it was the 8th egg and I left it on the counter for 5 extra days since the mini only holds 7. So I am hoping for 4 out of 8 eggs that were shipped to hatch... I love my broodys but didn't have enough trust in them to hatch my first ducklings... I also used my egg turner a lot of people say hand turn duck eggs.. (or call eggs)

I had to help them hatch - my last call to hatch has the shortest bill and he had a hard time.. the main thing I learned is to make sure they have a air hole in a 12-16 hour time frame from the internal pip.

Good thing you were there to help the little ones out.. I hope to get some runners in the future.

Good morning NCers! Question for you Orpington experts - this is a pic of my 2 Black/Lav Orpington splits. They have been SO slow to feather in (although they're coming in gorgeous and so shiny they have that green shine!) but both have big ol' combs. Do I have 2 roos??? The little comb in the bottom of the picture is the other one. Sorry it's not a great pic, but these guys DO NOT like me yet. I'm hoping they're just slow to mature in that aspect as well and will come around. Any thoughts???? Oh, and no big fat roo legs or wattles to speak of, just these big pink combs! What do you think????

Hope you're all having a good morning! Bhep, how's the hatch coming along?? And cute ducks OLF!

If they are lavender splits you are going to need to give them time. Being that lavender orps are still a project things tend to be a bit from the "norm" per say when it comes to being able to sex accurately till they crow or lay an egg. You will just have to grow them out to know for sure. I have had pullets look like cockerels till the very end and cockerels look like pullets till they crow, you just never know.

There freakish nature should also calm as they age, all of mine do after about the 3-4th month and the more you handle them the better.
