Hey there everyone! Hope you're all well! Congrats to all on hatches and awards! I've been trying to keep up but haven't been able to find time or free hands to post in forever! We've been busy with my oldest son's 2nd birthday, working on the coop, letting the chicks out to the run to play some, and all that good stuff! I think there's even a chance the chicks might move out to the coop this weekend. A very remote chance! And our big Welsummer boy is crowing!!!! So funny - I laugh every time. It is the cutest darn thing. I hate that I'm going to have to hurry and find my boys new homes. Soon I'll get good pics and see if any of you are interested. Any Welsummer folks out there? Take care and hopefully pics to come soon!!!

Oh, and secretquail - I really hope you get good news. My prayers are with you all and especially his little girls. Big hugs to you!

Regarding coyotes.....


I live NW of Hickory on 4 acres a couple months ago at 11am I saw a coyote walking in my backyard. My property backs up to a cow farm, and has a creek on it. You can hear the coyotes at night. However, my girls are still inside. The coop is a slow process. So I am sure once they are outside at night predator activity will pick up. I am hoping not to lose any! I know I have skunks (dog got sprayed), and have raccoons. My dog is outside most nights so hopefully he will deter predators around the coop. They are free-ranging during the day. I thought hawks were going to be an issue. They haven't been yet but the prey is rich right now.

And the coop! The run is totally framed and hardware clothed in minus the gate and half of the roof is framed in where it will be covered with metal roofing. Hopefully more will be done today! Woohoo!!!

The Sussex are always hogging the camera so I thought I'd get a few of those that haven't been pictured much. They are all so pretty I just love them! Tried to get the Ameraucanas but the pics aren't great - they just would not sit still!!!!

And egg_tastic - know what you mean about those darn coops!!!!!!!!!!
