I went to take some pictures, you can't see that there is a different color on her leg. I noticed tho when taking pictures that she has green skin all the way up to her thigh

I put some vitamins in her water, she seemed to do a little better after I could get her to drink. I have been having to put her beak in the water to get her to drink. We won't be able to get anything till tomorrow will she be okay?

My Silkie chicks hatched while I was at work today. They have had three mamas since the day they were laid. Now they are hatched and still have three mamas sitting on them. I have no clue as to which of the mamas are really the mamas. The rooster is buff. I am so excited I want to keep going out there and bothering them.

I have put water and chick starter in the nesting box. Is there anything else I need to do? Do the mamas teach them to eat and drink? Will they find it on their own?

Either way we will still be getting the antibiotics tomorrow. When she first got attacked I posted over there and only got one response but I am going to post again and with the pictures and see.

Oh man, good luck allabout!! Greenacre and HT - y'all are awesome for helping out!

I am so excited about my solar lights! I don't have pics of them up but I managed to install them yesterday. Both of them with my 2 kids underfoot. Together the 2 lights took all of maybe 30 minutes - and that includes totally changing my game plan and relocating one of them as well. So easy! I tested them out tonight and they are both really bright! This one is the motion activated flood light - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001U2D6OO - $43. And this one is the little shed light I used in the coop - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013HPNRY -$26! I am super happy. I was nervous because there is so much shade back there and even though the panels are installed in the sunniest spot it still only gets afternoon sun. But they charged up and worked great tonight! I only left them on long enough to test them out as you're supposed to give them a few days to fully charge, but I am thrilled! Yay!

27 JARS!!! Whatchya making this time?

We just finished our 1st jar of the honeysuckle jelly and boy am I sad about it! And since making it I have been baking fresh bread nearly every day 'cuz it's so good you can't put that on old store bought bread! So I have you to thank for that! Hope your back gets feeling better!!!

Thanks SCM! My back is still achy a bit, it was harvesting all that garlic. I guess I didn't bend with my knees so much as I should have.

I have to work today and tomorrow, about to run out the door to get DD to my mom's house to watch her. (Mom should be happy, she gets paid today!) Hubby voulenteered to take DD blueberry picking tomorrow so I could jam tomorrow night. I'm very excited when he gets involved with the garden and my jam business.

It definitely radiates LOVE!

I checked on the birds today and I noticed that ALL of a sudden, one of my 'pullet' looking Japanese bantams is all of a sudden looking rooish. I've always been able to tell a roo by week 2 or 3, but to show rooish qualities not until 11 weeks is weird!? No crowing or anything, and the neck feathers still look pulletish. However, he's got a very large red comb, and large wattles, while the other JB chick still has a small pink comb. Maybe I'm just over reacting.... but fingers still crossed I'm wrong. They are getting moved into the JB pen tonight after dark.... even if Mama silkie gives me a fight. I can't believe even my silkies are still trying to raise them, and trying to sit on them at 11 weeks, usually they stop being moms around 6 weeks.

Well just got everyone moved from the hatcher to the brooder, they are sooo cute! The two yellows are buff bantam orps and all the others are bantam cochins blue/black/lav/white and 3 are from a cochin project.

ML - you will be shocked to know I actually shut down the big cabinet hatcher as I took this group out today.

From here on out thru the summer into fall I will be hatching in the little Brinsea.

Have a small group of 4 going into lockdown today due Monday.
