I'm in Wilmington! I have a question that I have also posted under the chicken show, meet up forum but thought I might get a few more hits here. Has anybody been to The Cement Barn Chicken Swap in Cerro Gordo? It is held on the third Saturday of each month starting at daybreak. I have three five week old cockerels that need a home

and I was wondering if this is a good place to do so, since it's about an hour and twenty minute drive for me. Thanks!

Bhep, NH, and all ...

It doesn't have to be a Black Orp, just looking for an orp roo really. However, I'm probably going to get him from Green Family Farm down in Bladenboro. She has a few available and is NPIP and the whole 9 yards. Just need to get their quarantine spot ready.

Speaking of which, Ya'll think fencing off the bottom part of my coop and running out from it an area for an outside run would work for a 2 week quarantine to allow the birds to get used to each other before just letting him loose in the coop? I'm probaly going to get 3 birds (2 more pullets and him so he has a friend here) from Green when I do and they'd have about 80 square feet or so total.

Can't see the comb, but he looks like a Light Brahma instead of the cochin.

My first set of 10 chicks yielded only 4 little Roos. I am hoping at least one of the 3 Dutch boys is quality enough to be a breeder.

The other 23 are really young and running around to fast with their mothers, but I am worried about the quantity of combs I see.

Matt
