ML - Chicken & Dumpling soup?? What time can we be over??
lau.gif
Sounds yummy...I've never had dumplings (can you believe it??)!!
th.gif

So I've been reading this OLD cookbook/recipe book/something or other and I just had to share with you a recipe...just in case any of you are brave enough to try it.
sickbyc.gif
If you do, let me know how it goes!!
lau.gif
The recipe (which our neighbor swears by once I told him about it...it's apparently a farmer's "classic") is suppose to be the "perfectly balanced breakfast" with all of the minerals and nutrients you could possibly need to start your morning out. Have I peaked your interests?
Okay...so since you have fresh eggs...all you do is take some fresh eggs, some freshly washed, dried and prepared brains and a pat a butter scramble it together and cook until the eggs are done. Top with some Ghee and raw cheddar cheese and serve with a side of buttermilk.
hu.gif
Anyone willing to try this to tell me if I could pass it off on my DH??
lau.gif
Off to do some sewing today...have a great afternoon everyone!!

My Grandfather used to have this "Scrambled Eggs and Calf Brains" for breakfast very often when I was a child ! (I never tried it.)
Today, however, with "Mad Cow Disease", I would personally be reluctant to eat it. (At my age...I'm not interested in hurrying the advance of "Alzheimer's".

Ha-Ha !!!

The starngest for me was when we would go visit my grandparents in Pa. they would eat scraple and pudding, not the kind of pudding we think of though, never did ask what was in it though.

Miss Lydia,

BEST REGARDS !!!

My late wife, who grew up in Pennsylvania, was accustomed to eating "Scrapple" as a child. I have it in her recipe book....but we never did make or eat it....although we often used some of the "Old Recipes".

Perhaps I should try it some day!

Ha-Ha !!!

P.S. I read the posts here...but I haven't been posting much lately. Busy with other things around the house, etc.

I didn't realize it was a well known "recipe" as I am coming to find out!! On a funny note about "Mad Cow Disease" my family is BANNED from donating blood to the Red Cross because we lived overseas during the 80s-90s and there was a "flux" of MCD. As such the Red Cross has banned us (and the other military families, study abroad students, etc...) who lived overseas for more than a year during that time from EVER donating blood. Don't you think after 20 years the effects of MCD would have already begun to show??
lau.gif
Maybe that's my problem.

As for the recipe book, they offer different "variations" based on which kind of brain you used. There is one for Pig's brain, Cow, Sheep, Goat, and certain other brains that we won't mention here (poultry or other cute creatures: rabbit, cat/dog, monkey, etc...).
hu.gif
Still, it's a rather interesting cookbook!! Glad to see you're still hanging around!! Hope this post didn't upset you all too much I did leave out the other...more...unique recipes!!
