Thank you everyone for your tick tips and advice. I have a tincture in the works (it has to "brew" for 4 weeks) that should be up and ready by the end of July, so I will have to just "hang tough" until then. LD - I never go outside to work without long sleeves, long pants, socks pulled over the pant legs, a breathing mask (Yeah...I'm THAT allergic to poison ivy) so I can't figure out HOW they are getting "in".
hu.gif
They always end up in one particular spot (think bra line) and I have NO idea how they are getting there.

sneaky buggers!!

ML - I was thinking of you yesterday!! I am making my first batch of home-made, made from scratch Organic Chicken Stock (the recipe calls for it to cook for 6-24 hours!! bleck)!! The house smells like Easter dinner in here!!

fl.gif
it's my first attempt...just hope I manage to do a decent job. Care to come over and process our nasty bugger?!?
DH and I have finally decided that Cotton-Tail must go to the freezer!!

It's not his fault, there's just not enough girls for him and he's becoming increasingly more aggressive. The other two boys have their own "set" of girls and he's to the point where he's just attacking everything/one within range. He has not tried to spur me, but he does do this side "skittering" thing when I am near him. It's almost as if he is trying to get up the "nerve" to attack but isn't quite there yet.
hu.gif
We are set to "do the deed" this weekend with the help of a dear friend of ours. DH fears he may vomit doing it for the first time and I KNOW I'll be in tears.
hit.gif
However, I also know that he has had a good life, was well loved and we will be grateful that he is providing us with several meals! Needless to say, it's still hard. I do hope it gets easier as we get more use to it.
It's suppose to be HOT this week...try to stay cool and comfortable everyone!!

NHS, I wish you had my immunity to posion ivy. Its the only skin problem I don't get! I still say get a goat!!! I would so go over there and feed him (or her) and come give him (or her) baths. I so wanted a goat.
wink.png
And no worries, your eggs will be there soon, and then you'll go NUTS because they'll just keep loading up on you!!! HAHAHAHA (Unless you have silkies like me, then you have to BEG for eggs every morning.)

Daddy, I am so happy for you! Isn't it the best, the FIRST eggs taste like nothing else you've ever had because they are so new and earned.

Quick update, my blood tests we started with came back fine. Which means we remove Anemia from the table of possible problems. I don't remember if we tested for hypoglycemia with that test or not. If we didn't thats the test we go in for today. If we did, I'm not sure what we're going to test for next. I'm trying to get me a regular general doctor... however, everyone is still booked until mid to late August or early Sept. So I'm doing all this through Urgent Care. I don't know if that's the best choice for me. Funny, we just got insurance for the first time a couple of months ago, talk about good timing! I just hadn't picked out my general care dr office yet. This is what I get for putting it off!

What I can say, is for the past 11 days I've not felt 32, I felt like I've aged 20 years. If I was to guess what was going on originally, I would have said diabetes 100% because everyone in my family (my mom, dad, aunts and uncles all do).

You may get your wish. DH and I have been talking/looking into getting a dairy goat!! If we do, you are more than welcome to come over and feed her (and him)...bathe her (and him) and take them both for nice long walks in the woods.
lau.gif
I'll keep you posted!!
fl.gif
I'm praying you don't have diabetes!! Please keep us posted on how you are feeling!!

Chicken update: I just had to share this with you. Apparently Timmy doesn't know he is a HE!!
lau.gif
I put some plastic eggs (it was all I had) in the nesting boxes. Well, Jeremy went over and inspected them as well as ALL the girls. Cotton-tail ignored everyone except during the times he was trying to be frisky and getting beat up by Jeremy. Anyway, I go to give them some tomatoes as a treat - especially since it's suppose to be HOT today and when I come back, Timmy is in the nesting box sitting on two of the fake eggs!!
lau.gif
Now that was a sight to see. Perhaps he thinks he's a pigeon...or a penguin?!?
lau.gif

On a serious & sad note, I don't know if you all read it or not but there was a cock fighting ring that was broken up here in Johnston County!
hit.gif
So far 3 people have been arrested with another 14 more suspected to be arrested when the come to retrieve their car. I don't get it...WHY?!? <shakes head> I vote for a new law...those arrested for animal abuse such as this should have the same thing done to them... throw them all in a ring - why not...the Romans did it with the Gladiators. Still...these people are sick!! Sorry to rant, I just read it and had to share. If anyone is in JC area, Animal Services might need some help as 138 live birds were seized!!
fl.gif
hoping they make it and do not have to be put down because of aggression or anything!! Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news.

I hate to hear about stuff like that, breaks my heart to think people enjoy it. but wanted to tell you that don't be surprised if you see your roos in the nest boxes with their girls, mine do it alot. Just trying to make them feel at home I guess. But I've never actually seen one sitting on eggs.

my rosecomb roo will set and turn eggs, and brood young as well (he and his son are the only ones). i think it shows extreme ignorance that down here the general thought is same as up north, that fighting bred animals are unable to be tamed/retrained, and trusted ever around people or other animals especially of own kind. these are naturally group animals, and ive rehabbed supposed "champion" fighting dogs up north, and cocks down here. though i have heard of no knowledge on ability or inability to rehab fighting horses (yes these scumbags exist even!), and havent heard of monkey fights since they were readily available.

i think punishments should fit the crimes, also. on the plus side a while back the area news said one of those fellows was killed by his own cock, that had tore his throat out with its spurs when he was abusing it to try to make it mean. guess it worked! ah hahahahahaha sadly they probably put the bird down and not the other meth heads that were witnesses, as actually betting they killed him taking money, drugs etc. and figured bird would be good scape goat. i mean which seems more plausible to even a reasonably non lazy intelligent person??? said the bird didnt appear aggressive at all, but the law is apparently that that an animal never has a good reason for killing a person.
