BHep - glad to hear you all are doing well and finally have power/water/etc... We were fortunate here (especially since we have a co-op electrical company) and only loss power for 2 hours. There is a LOT of tree mess to clean up, but we are happy that no trees fell and apparently our chickens were happy to get the coop opened up again as they gave us THREE eggs yesterday!!
That's the first time we have seen eggs matching the number of layers we have!!
I am getting more excited as our Marans which were hatched 3/17 are getting close to their time of laying!! DD is VERY happy to have the eggs!! Yesterday she ate FOUR scrambled eggs (granted they were bantam size, but still...we have a growth spurt coming on I think!!
) Sadly, I have not had the privileged of tasting any of our eggs
as my wonderful all day "morning" sickness is really doing a number on my ability to withstand smells!!
Poor DH is on his own for his meals until this passes...
it's that or risk making him lose his appetite when the smells get the best of me!!
Just a reminder so you all don't worry, I am flying "home" this week to attend a wedding, so I may not be around. I don't want any of you to worry!! DD and I will be flying to Ohio and spending some time with family and friends. The key will be whether or not I can keep our "secret" a secret
until DH is ready to announce it to our families.
Here's a hope and a prayer that I am able to suppress the queasiness long enough!! Ginger, catnip and peppermint tea..you all are going to be my best friends!!
Tink also managed to weather the storm...she has had her first treatment for worms and as soon as her coat dries, I plan on putting some revolution/frontline (can't remember which it is...lol) on her. She's still looking for a good home, although DH is still talking with the rescue group...for some reason they want to adopt her into a home where the woman insists she gets declawed first...I keep explaining that she is in NO condition to have any traumatic surgery (my feelings about declawing aside). I am leaning towards keeping her and "fixing her up" and then sending her out to SCM's grandma. She is such a loving cat who's had a hard life so far...she deserves to be loved on and to curl up in someone's lap and "talk" to them. Maybe it's my "maternal instincts" getting the better of me??!!
to all the newcomers!!
HT - Thank you for the pictures of ChickenStock!! Sure wish we had been closer...it looked like a LOT of fun!! I will say I am glad I didn't go though, because those cupcakes looked absolutely sinfully delicious!! I probably would have caved and tried one then I would have been in double trouble!!
Have a great day everyone!!
