I suspect I have ANOTHER

snake. 6 eggs missing from a closed up & locked small dog carrier. Only a stinking snake could have gotten in & out.

These were egg I gave to my hen to hatch, since she helped out during the power outtage... they were due to hatch tomorrow !

So sorry! Snakes are sneaky! As many chickens as you have. It might pay to get someone to come remove, and then use a barrier like Matt recommended with the folded deer netting.
I lost one of my bcm pullets two weeks ago, she evidently took a liking to the doorway that night...*autodoor* sadly no way it happened quick, door is very light. I have spent countless hours beating my self up. That night I let the dogs out, I remember hearing flapping of wings. Sounded just like someone had dropped off the roost and they might have, but I'm pretty sure it was her suffering in the door. I have changed the shavings threshold as to not have another roost on it.
I hope your daY gets better. I recommend a silkie hug!
