My silkie is more pig than chicken!!! They always seem to act as if they haven't seen food in months. And none of my LF would stand a chance in a race for a roach! Where the LF will peck the food first, she snaps and swallows them whole. I tried just giving her the smaller ones, but she just eats that much faster. Im starting to think she is gonna take over round here, intimidating little bird!

Welcome new folks!!!! Hope to see ya at the show!

Wishing one of ya'll lived close enough to help!!
I have rescued 2 chickens a silkie cochin mix roo and a red silkie hen.
They both seem sick( leg mites, worms, respirtory) and they both need baths. Neither one is use to being handled and I'm trying to figure out how to hold them and treat them at the same time

I feel so bad for them. I am defintely gonna keep the hen but unsure of the rooster(he is a beautiful calico)
Anyway I don't think it was smart to take cause I am so horribly strapped for money that I don't know if I can afford the Tylan and de-wormer!

Any help or advice would be great!

On a happier note THE SUN CAME OUT TODAY!

I saw it this morning too! Awesome and missed sight for sore eyes. Then it thunder stormed tonight. Bummer. I'd help you if I could. For leg mites I've treated with Vaseline though Ive heard that you can use spray Pam too?? Never tried it, but the Vaseline worked. Not sure if those were the type of mites you meant though...
