I am interested to know what this "egg song" is..

I have at least 4 girls laying now and never hear them make any noise AT ALL..

SCM-my neighbors hen laid her first egg today, but only after spending the last two days grumbling/groaning like she was in pain and had to complain to everyone about it. Hope this helps!

Beth- I would love a duck or ten

my only problem is they wouldn't stay home, my neighbors have a HUGE private pond and I'm afraid any duck would take one look at the large baby pool and “baby pool or large pond....hmmm...POND!!!

Mine did the same thing!! Cracked me up to watch.

SCM, one of my Cinnamon Queens will make a low pitched growly sound while preparing to lay. The loudness is determined by conditions for lay, like if someone is in her favorite nest box and taking a long time she is REALLY loud!!

I remember asking you all what was WRONG with the sound my rooster was making only to learn he was "singing" along with his harem about their eggs!!

What an interesting day!! I have been somewhat following along this week bc I have been super busy at work (thank goodness for smartphones), and wanted to say
welcome-byc.gif
to all the new eggs!! congrats on all the chicks and new layers...some of mine sing, and some don't...but the roosters definitely get in on the noise making. Big Huge Thank You to HenThymes for talking me thru my egg bound broody crisis. Tillie Millie thoroughly enjoyed her bath, that was absolutely gross, and Buff Orpingtons take FOREVER to blow dry!! I am keeping her inside tonight, and will see if she is still inclined to set tomorrow, then she can try again.

So here is the update:

Chick with splay legs is doing fine, will leave the "supports" on for a few more days.

DW - Allison gets home to another egg hatched and one pipped......

1 Day to NPIP testing.

Photo's of the babies will follow sometime on Friday!!

Locking up tonight.... 1 young GLP rooster missing. While searching find a snake skin. Measure it............. 5 foot 4 inches.
