Thanks! I'm excited! I've had such a mental battle over to Silkie or not to Silkie! I'm glad the decision was kinda made for me!!!!
smile.png
I need to move to have ducks I think. Though my DH did fall in love with the goats and is convinced "They're pretty much the same as dogs, right? The neighbors won't care!" Uhhh huh! Just checked on Esme when I locked up the coop and she is doing her thing. She will eat and drink a little, right?? I'm so worried about her not drinking enough!

Haha - DH is going on about the goats again!!!

Well SCM...we're still debating on sheep (especially since DD LOVES sheep's milk...DH says it tastes like sweetened cow's milk...I dunno, OB won't let me drink any
gig.gif
). She has drank in the past week...2 GALLONS of milk!! We only get 4 a month, so I'm either going to have to invest in another sheep share or start rationing her!!
lau.gif
Buying sheep at this point might be LESS costly for us...if only I could find someone who knew how to make cheese and cream and such from it. Anyway, I vote if you get goats and we get sheep that we have play dates so your boys can play with my sheep and my two (or more) can play with your goats and we can oohh and ahh over chickens!!

on getting some eggs!! I hope they hatch out well for you and be sure to take photos ASAP for us!! I feel as if I am the ONLY one on the non-silkie bandwagon...lol I'm sure VFem and G&A will continue to try and get me to jump on board!!

All is okay here...well I will tell you what happened to us yesterday. Apparently we are destined NOT to do any tilling or gardening. I bought DH a pull behind tiller for our tractor...he hooked it up, got it running only for it to lock up on him because..... apparently when they dropped it off, they only put enough oil in it to get it started. The company delivered it with NO instructions or engine manual which it tells you to refer to and states on the machine that it comes with some. <sigh> Now he's afraid we'll have to replace the engine on it. I'm thinking it's got to be under warranty because we just purchased it in September...who knows. He gets to call Sears on Monday and deal with them. I told him to be MEAN & FIRM...it's their fault for delivering a machine with no box, no instructions and/or paperwork!! Not to mention not informing us whether or not they put a full thing of oil in it. Apparently, they only put enough oil and gas in it to see if it works...well that would have been fine to know BEFOREHAND.

I have had NOTHING but issues with Sears this last order...not sure if we'll go with them again. So yeah...no tiller, poor chickens were cooped up all day waiting for the tilling to get done, DH was so upset with himself about the tiller that he just moped around afterwards berating himself for not being smarter.

Well...when it rains, it pours, right?!?

I'm not worried, I have faith all will turn out well one way or another!! Some good BIG NEWS: (haha...I'm already pregnant, so that doesn't count)....DD went potty on the big girl potty (her potty chair) a few times this weekend!! I think we may be getting closer to actively potty training!!

Does anyone want to come take over for me??
lau.gif
I'm not ready for this....and yet it would be nice to only worry about ONE set of diapers!!

Happy Sunday everyone...have a great day!!

***FOUND CHICKEN in Fuquay Varina, NC*** Anyone missing a hen??? We had a friend walk outside yesterday and there was a hen in her garage - in a very non-chickeny neighborhood. She hopped in her stroller and laid an egg and followed her around all day. Very friendly! She's been trying to figure out who may have chickens near her but so far no luck - checking with one person today. But she got her some food and put her in a dog kennel kinda thing and is doing well. And of course, now she's thinking maybe she should get a couple more and build a coop!
gig.gif
They would have to be secret chickens though, HOA definitely doesn't allow them! But PM me if you've lost a hen and I'll pass on your info!!!

Bhep - luckily the guys at Sumner-Byrd said I could bring back any unwanted chicks, though aren't they crazy hard to sex? How old are silkies when you can figure out whatchya got?

NH - Sorry for your tractor troubles! That's no fun! And good luck with potty training! That would be awesome if you can get it done before #2 comes along! The hardest thing about it with my big guy is that when he does tell me he has to go (or when I figure out he has to) it's so hard to get both him and the little guy to the potty in time!
th.gif
But, he's doing great so far and is still young. Good luck!

Broody still doing great! She doesn't like the other chickens going near her but she's still sweet to me!

Off to make banana pancakes! Have a great day everyone!

JK.... they just take a little longer to sex then most other. Some people can sex then younger by streamers that start growing, I just don't find that foolproof. I just watch the comb & wattle growth.

Off to Church..................

Mom as doing good today. Has the chicks out in the sunshine learning to scratch for food. The d'uccle chicks had to be rescued last night since the farmer who's field is behind our house decided to cotton pick last night. The lights and sounds from the machines scared the chicks so much the ran out of their "coop" to hide under the other coop. When I put them back in their own they huddled on and around my hand and arm. Poor babies!!

WAY Too early to tell boys from girls. Luckily those look to all be partridge, so you should be able to tell earlier on these guys than most other colored silkies what their sex will be. When they fully feather in, partridge sexes are different colors and a tell tale as to male/female.
