Bhep, I think it was another school shooting. Stupid copycat kids.

It was mentioned on the news. I was half asleep. I hope no one gets horribly offended and I hate to hear of anyone getting hurt or killed. I'll try to stay off the soapbox, but my views on gun control have to do with sheep and wolves. We need more Border Collies hanging out with the sheep to take out these wolves at first shot. I consider myself a Border Collie in sheep's clothing.

Today will be great for us all!!!! I can feel it. NHS I envy your location! I'm back to bein midway in.... I can have chickens, but I can see my neighbors. I miss the peaceful way out life! But for my DW, I'll stay till she can retire! We live a stones through from 40, which makes her commute super fast. I'm thankful to just have her and all my non speaking kids! But my ranch dream will come one day!

We pulled 6 eggs from the LF pen yesterday!! Since their are only 6 girls in there that means everyone is now laying!!

DH threw one of the eggs away. He said it was half water balloon and half egg! And I didn't even get to see it!! Bummer!

Need to give them oyster shell, mixed in their food or free feed, in a dish. I put it in the food, because the beasts just scratch it to the ground.

I have also read on here....that some people baked the egg shells and feed them back.

I don't have the patience for that ! I DO boil up my Quail eggs then mash them shells & all and feed it to the chickens.

We save our egg shells and I don't have the time nor patience for baking them.

Couple of weeks ago I fed some old eggs to the hens. I scrambled them with garlic and red pepper. I think Hubby wanted some when he walked past, lol. I crush the egg shells into something like that. An old pot of rice makes a good partner for the shells, too.

Garlic is supposed to be good for humans and chickens. I feel that garlic flavored eggs are less likely to encourage egg eating.

Egg shells go in the compost pile here...so do the chickens.

But they scratch & turn everything up so its all good.
