When you use the embroidery machine, Do you embroider the fabric first, or embroider on the finished product?

What if I made something, like an apron...Could I pay you to embroider initials or something on it?


Suburban-I have washed her legs and put oil on them and they look the same..Are the mites visible to the naked eye? I can't see anything crawling. I wasn't sure if her legs would go back to normal when cleared or if they would always look like that.. I'm surprised the fair would have let her in with all of the other birds around with the possibility of spreading, aren't you??

Good Morning all! Finally home from work(why do people call 911 right at the end of my shift???) and ready to start my day.

I have decided since I haven't carved a pumpkin in over 15 years today is the day to carve 2 for the front door.

My dad gave me my first cast iron frying pan on Sunday.....YAY. Its already seasoned so now I'm off to learn how to fry chicken. Cross your fingers for me.

NH, since you are the sewing pro....I would like to get a small/simple sewing machine for occasional projects. Would one of those mini ones from Wallyworld work?

Want to know whats better than TV......watching my 4lb kitten ATTACK my 75lb German Shepherd.....and not get killed. LOL

vfem, I'm convinced there needs to be a class in HS that teaches people the definition of EMERGENCY. If you have felt this way for days/weeks.....NOT an emergency.

doubleatraining~ I know in my area there are 2 missing teenagers. People are being told to call 911 if they are spotted. They've been missing since Saturday. Search parties have been going on and everything looking for them.

marlowmanor, well missing teenagers is a very big emergency. I'm talking about having to go out at 3am for someone who thinks he has a "burp stuck" and wants to go to the ER. Or a stubbed toe. LOL

Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I love being able to help people. I just have to have a sick sense of humor to not get mad at the people who wake me up at 3am for silly things.

Good morning all!!

A wonderful day here in the Carolina's!! Sun is shining, my egg layers are laying, my silkies are giving between 3 and 5 eggs a day and the youngest hen has gone broody, just after starting to lay......

Will be in Morganton on Saturday for our first showing. Cupcake will be washed and dried Friday, then spend the night indoors in a dog crate ready for Saturday's show. Also bringing 2 Buff Orp roos, for 2 lucky people (they know who they are), and returning home with some Silkies (pair) and possibly 6 Brahamas (LF) to add to my egg layers.... (maybe showers too....).......

I totally get what you mean about the HS class to know what an emergency is...

Kids climbing on the church sign across the street (6' up), call non-emergency number.
My toddler turned over the HUGE stereo speaker on me... When I got done screaming in pain, you can bet I dialled 911!

Okay everyone...I have a serious question for you... anyone know of a good link to some local shelters? I tried Pet Finder, but I found an animal I wanted only to realize it was all the way over in Charlotte (it was a polydactyl...how cool is that??)!!

That's quite a drive for me.

Anyway, my older boy isn't getting any calmer, still hunting the house for his playmate, so I thought even though I am not ready, I may have to get him a friend. He goes crazy whenever I leave and refuses to leave me alone once I get home...to the point where I have almost stepped on him and/or tripped. Too dangerous for this pgnt lady!!

Tink would be on the list, but it looks like she has another home lined up here shortly!! Yay for her, boo for us!! Perhaps it's for the best, she might not have gotten along with others.

Anyway if you know of any in the wake/johnston area, would you let me know?

Ally - to embroider, I have software I can load up on my sewing machine (read computer...as it is a computer that sews...haha) to embroider. Depending on where the embroidery is will depend on whether it goes on first or last. Collars, pockets, sleeves, and tight spaces all go on first (then I pray I sew straight or embroider straight...lol or at least sew it as crooked as it was embroidered so no one will be able to tell!!). For my DD I am doing just the lace along the hem of the dress to make it a bit "fancier" and more festive. It's really just a personal preference!

You are welcome to come "stand" over my shoulder any time!!

SCM - I am only this productive because we live in the middle of nowhere with nothing close by.

I can't take DD to the park without having to drive a good 30 minutes and we don't really have many close friends (we've only lived here 2 years, almost...and DH works ALL the time) - aside from all of my BYC'ers (sucking up...shhhh!! seriously, you all are great!!) so there isn't really anyone for us to visit or have play dates...staying busy keeps me sane and allows me to forget that I am really "isolated". Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where I live...it just allows me to forget that I miss my family and friends "back home".

DoubleA- Small sewing machine...what do you plan to do with it? If it's just the basics - sew a seam, repair a tear, those types of basics - I'd say any small machine that allows you to do a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch would be great. Just know that if you intend to do a bit of sewing the smaller machines' motors might burn up quickly (just a caution, I am NOT speaking from experience here). I know if I was using it...lol, it would be dead in a few days!!

I say go for the small one!!
