Hi everybody! Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather! My poor flowers are trying to bloom again because they are so confused by all this warm weather!

. My chicks are just loving all this sun and spending the day with full accsess to the run now, although its left me a mess worrying about them!
I found a great coop for sale on craigslist, 2ft wide x 2 ft tall x 6 ft long.

My lil silkies are getting so big and fluffy, it was so fun to watch them dust bath in the sun yesterday. One of them even caught her first cricket

So I have a question, would anybody passing by me on the way to Morganton be willing to give me a ride? I have 20-30$ for gas?
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

My gardenias also bloomed last week!

Alright, is anyone interested in trading this Polish hen for something? I paid $25 for her at the fair a week ago and the poor thing just isn't "falling in" with the rest of the flock. Even the rooster doesn't seem to accept her..

She's beautiful and calm around people, so maybe it's that she's the only Polish?

Anyhow, it's gotten so that she doesn't even want to leave the coop house..

We live in Zebulon (east of Raleigh)

Let me know if you have any ideas or offers..

Ally.... I have found that my Polish rarely leave the barn/coop area. They really can't see great due to the top hat. Mine also seem to be lowest on the pecking order.
I just re-vamped my barn and put my Polish in the breeder pens for their own safety. They seem very content now.
Unfortunately... I lost my WCB rooster to a predator just last week, so no need for another hen.
I am sure someone will snatch her up.

I have been a busy girl this morning!! I have DH's supper in the crock pot, changed the linens on all the beds and have most of them hanging out on the line soaking up the sun to dry!! Managed to get 1/2 of my embroidery Christmas project done while DD slept!! Kitchen floors have been swept and mopped, finished a book and I did all this because I can't seem to sleep past 2AM. It's official....this baby is definitely going to be up EARLY....earlier than the chickens at least!! LOL.

Have a great day everyone...I'm off to do more sewing....afterall, it sure beats cleaning!!

I am making a few dresses for DD for Christmas...one of them is a lace embroidered frock made from velvet, another one is a poofy satin ensemble to be worn with a pettiskirt. The main thing I am working on right now is the gift for my MIL & FIL. They have a cottage that they stay at in the summer - by a lake - and they call it "CAMP". We are expected to send our kids there every summer (when they're older) for 2 weeks without parents, just grandma & grandpa. Anyway...somewhere along the way, it became known as the Flamingo Cottage - my MIL adores flamingos. It started where someone gave her a flamingo shower curtain...then someone else got her a toilet seat cover, a bath rug, sheets and blankets, you name it. Well I have a wonderful embroidery pattern where a flamingo is getting it's foot bitten by a crab and so I am embroidering it onto a few bath towels and doing a palm tree for the hand towels. All in all, they will have 2 bath sheets with the flamingos on it, 2 bath sheets with "CAMP" on it and then the hand towels and wash cloths - which I may (if I have time and enough thread) put a little crab or a pool of water on so they all match...not sure yet. The towels are white with pink accents, and the wash cloths are pink, so I may just leave them alone. My sister was really close with our grandmother and she brought me a huge bag of my grandmother's old sweatshirts...so once I finish with the towels, I am going to make a memory "t-shirt" quilt for my sister out of those sweatshirts. Last but not least, my mother LOVES aprons, especially retro aprons. I found a FABULOUS apron pattern, and since she is a HUGE animal lover, I plan to embroider "Grammie" at the top (that's what my nieces/nephew call her) and put a few decorative touches on it. If I have time (and the material) I do have a pattern to make some children's aprons (a chicken, a frog, and an owl) and I plan to make the frog and the chicken for my 2 nieces for when they "help" in the kitchen. Someday, my DD will get the OWL one, perhaps for her 2nd bday or maybe as a "YAY! You're POTTY TRAINED" present!!

The biggest thing for me...getting the towels done so I won't have to ship them!!

The in-laws are coming for Thanksgiving (why, I don't know, my FIL won't eat ANYTHING I cook!!

) and I plan to send all of the Christmas presents for everyone with them...and save myself at least $50 in shipping!! If only I had more fabric and more time, I'd make a thousand more things. However, once Christmas is finished this year, I am working on getting the quilts made for the new kids' room (Dr. Seuss theme), my sister's quilt for her new bedroom, my SIL's baby quilt finished (only have until April on that one), my other SIL's firefighter quilt done and a slew of baby clothes and what nots to do!!

So long as I am busy...I do not mind!! Good thing I am still too far away from the nesting stage to be affected by it!!
