Here is a great place to learn about dressing a chicken. http://www.butcherachicken.blogspot.com/ I studied, and studied it before i did my second turkey ( first was about 29 years before) I think the most important part is fasting him overnight to be sure his digestive track is empty, but feed him right before so you can find the crop. If you don't have a pot big enough to scald all at once, I have poured the water over parts and pucked while more has boiling. It will take you twice as long as you think, but it is worth it.

We haven't done a turkey yet, but we've done pekin ducks and needed a HUGE pot for them. Luckily someone let me in the on secret to add dish soap to the hot water to get those darn oils off the feathers for easier plucking. We want to do a turkey eventually... but I do enjoy some DUCK! YUM!

Remember that Toulouse gander I was trying to pawn off a couple of months ago...? My husband is now in love with "Todd" and I found someone on craigslist with a female...Wonder if that's someone on here?

Anyhow, it looks like we may soon be housing a pair of Toulouse..lol.

Todd is an excellent watchgoose and alarms at ANY movement at night. I almost never know what exactly he's screaming about out there, but I haven't lost any chickens to predators, so I guess it's working! I just can't leave my bedroom window open anymore because of all the noise!
