So sorry, Double A.....That's so frustrating. To be honest, I've very surprised nothing has tried or been successful in getting to any of mine because our lot is surrounded by woods. I truly believe it's because of my dramatic goose alarms...

DoubleA... I have a YOUNG barndevelder rooster, he is blind in 1 eye. He is a freeBee if interested.

I got my first egg from a red sex-link today!

Did a size comparison--the larger is a store bought grade A large and I gots a little brown egg. I guess she heard me complaining I hadn't gotten any eggs. Now to cook it or savior it...might cook an egg sandwich later!

A belated Merry Christmas to you all!!!!!!!!!!! Busy busy with the holiday and then ended it getting terribly sick.

No fun at all. But the kids are loving life and we had a wonderful time! Looking forward to more family in town this weekend!

Vfem - if one of my silkie chicks is a boy, he's all yours! They're just now starting to get their head fluff in - and both very differently. One is coming in all in the center, the other all spiky and all over the place! Too funny! I need to get pics and see if any of you can sex the little cuties!

In happy chicken news, my Ameraucana FINALLY LAID AN EGG!!!! At just 35 and a half weeks old!!!

But it was worth the wait because it is a gorgeous, BIG pretty blue egg and has laid 3 since Christmas eve!

G&A, THANK YOU for the offer. Its a good 3.5hr ride to your house but if I can plan it for this month I will let you know. I'm VERY touched by your generosity. CONGRATS on the chicks!

NH, I do think a PERSON opened the doors. They are well secured and take oposable thumbs to open.....the coops were UNDAMAGED. BTW I'm still in a fighting mood if you want me to come over with the 12g we can take care of that critter problem REALLY quickly.


So final count is 15 dead. I found both the Delaware pullets. YAY But I'm still heartbroken over my big white rock hen. I'll be going back to the auction weekly hoping to find another one like her. I REALLY REALLY wanted some big babies out of her.



Bhep, how young and do you have pictures? I am VERY interested.
