Hi UcleKB, WELCOME!

I have to agree with Scared, Leghorns are awful flighty birds. With youngin's we've been planning on some Easter Eggers, Sex-links and Australorps as our choices for GREAT family friendly layers. I chose sex-links and EE's because for some reason, I think Mutt bred birds have such great personalities in general. :)

Leghorns wouldn't be at the top of my list for a family layer/pet flock only because they have a tendancy to be flightier than many other breeds...

Australorps, Orpingtons, RIR, Sussex, ameraucanas/EE's, all tend to be really good reliable layers who tend to be pretty laid back especially when handled and interacted with on a regular basis. Any chicken treated well and bribed with good treats gets used to people and handling ;)

Ok... we're leaving in 30 minutes to goto the auction. We decided we're going to sell the whole flock of Japanese Bantams, but we're not taking them today. I want to see the auction and whats involved first and we'll bring the girls and their man up another weekend.

Looking forward to SILKIES today! DD is bouncing off the walls because "SHE" gets new birds. Hahahaha

Snow, what's snow??? You mean you aren't having spring weather all winter!!!

We have had alot of spring like weather, but had 2 artic blasts in the month of Jan we could have done without. It's hard to get use to when we have temps in the 40's for highs then it drops into the 20's for highs. Yuck. I love the snow at least when it snows the weather temps are better only 30* for low this morning.

Took some pictures today, here are some birds I'm getting rid of

Mutt cockerel

Mutt pullet - OEGB/Mille fleur d'uccle

Muscovy duck hen

Still on the fence about him, I have been told I can't get rid of him but I have no use for him and TOO MANY ROOSTERS - Spitzhauben rooster

Dom white silkie cockerel going to sell him as a PQ - only because he has kinda loose wings, though he WILL hold them tight, and sparse middle toe feathers, but you can see feather folicles on the toes, so I don't know if they will fill in or not (I swear I remember him having fuller feathers but dunno)
