For your viewing pleasure...... just took these about an hour ago. All are doing well and starting to run around like crazy! We can tell today they are starting to gain some weight and getting better at bottle feedings. Momma on the other hand is starting to realize she has four kids driving her nuts.

Too bad they are all boys.

If there had been a girl there I would have been tempted! We already have 2 boys here though, they are wethers and are pygmy/Nigerian dwarf cross. We want a doe, actually we would love to be able to purchase a bred doe so we can have babies here and my kids could witness a birth, but so far we haven't found any bred does in our price range nearby.

I don't post much here (I'm more active on BYH!) I guess I should be on this site a little more so I can get used to the set up since BYH will be changing to it at some point too.
My 8 chickens are doing well. Wishing my hens would start layong but so far no eggs.

I'm betting they won't start till spring even though we have been having funky weather lately. I find it funny that of our 2 roos the smallest one seems to be dominant and the only one who crows right now. Our EE roo is the one who crows right now, and even though our BR roo is bigger than him he does not crow and I have yet to see them fight.

So what are my chances of my girls starting to lay soon? We got them as chicks in July. We have 2 RIRs, and 4 EEs that are hens. The EEs I know take longer usually to start laying and I am not seeing any red combs on any of them yet. The RIRs I see bigger and redder combs coming in, but no eggs yet. The other week we heard the egg song from one of them. We were told that usually they start laying about a week after the first egg song but we haven't found any eggs yet. Anyone have any ideas when we can expect eggs?

PS I do like the fact that the new BYC has the color options for the posts! Definately something to look forward to!

Approx 25 weeks on the RIR.... now the EEs.......... mine started about 7-9 months old.

Going by that the RIR should be laying already.

By my calculations they are 31-32weeks old. I am guessing the season is throwing them off though?

I knew the EEs would take a lot longer to lay. At least when the EEs start laying they should lay colored eggs!
