How is this for color...............

Some of these birds are gone....but then there are more. I am planning a head count today. I think I am in the low 200s, I am getting to my goal of the 100s.

Lovely colors! I had ended up with something along those lines, although I've never gone over 100 birds...I don't think. I just didn't like the personality of the other breeds. The ones I tried just didn't work for us. Even the cochin has gone to live with my parents, and my next visit I'll take the Sussex, too. (Ms. Bossy, the Comet, will stay here for ever!)

A nice morning with no rain at the moment.

I have 7 comets. I have to say, not only are they the BEST layers.... they are extremely friendly ! Also the biggest trouble makers in the yard. LOL

NH maybe she's hiding eggs till she has enough to brood on

RF - Again you are making my day...

The thunder & lightening is just starting to hit us, so those of you who are further west, I hope you all were safe! Figures the days in which we plan on doing some building, repairing buildings, etc... it has to storm!! DH said he plans to work in the rain so long as it's a drizzle and not a downpour. I get to stay inside with DD - somehow I feel cheated!! LOL...I'm going to have to listen to her call for her daddy all day!! LOL Still, I cannot complain when my potato tower is getting built and the fence is getting finished!! I hope everyone stays dry and has a great day!!

Ms Bossy is about six years old, I think. She was an adult four years ago when we got our first puppy. We took him out into the chicken house and run and into the sheep pastures daily, so he could learn to leave them alone. Ms Bossy would come running up to him every single day, peck him on the nose, then start scratching furiously right in front of him, as if to say, "I dare you!" She did the same for the other two dogs when they arrived here. She's the dog trainer on the place, for sure! She also insists on getting her daily scratch out of my hand...Her and Bob, the oldest Bourbon Red tom. And she doesn't mind being picked up so a visiting child can pet her. Yeah. She stays.
