North Carolina

I have read people give it to all the chicks in the first few days, I don't see why it would hurt.

Good to know this guy is right around the corner from me! Is this the Craigslist add?
And then I drove up when you were leaving and got the rest of his lav Orps. I loved his huge Silver Sussex roos. So tempting. And the Lemon Cuckoos. and him. What a lovely gent. We started talking chicken, and he ended up asking for my phone number...for recipes!

I let him know about the swap at FFS and the WCA, so may see him at one or the other.

I think the Fayetteville crowd should meet once a month for a meal. I would love to meet the rest of you, I already know we are the coolest people in Fayetteville! Any takers?

Yep, he's the gentleman that advertised on CL. He's only fifteen minutes from me. I woke up this morning, remembered the conversation about him on here, looked him up and gave him a call. I just couldn't wait for the eggs to hatch.

I did get out and do some cleaning at the barn and chicken house today, though. Five muck tubs and a big wheelbarrow for hubby to empty when he gets home. Then I'll fill them again tomorrow. This arrangement works well.

I'm up for meeting for lunch, although spring break is over at the end of the week and I must get back to my regularly scheduled programs. I'm unscheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though!

(So what are the odds that many of us have matching schedules?)

Would anyone be interested in trading a couple laying hens for a BR roo?
D.gif
If I can get my DH to agree to it I may try to trade our BR roo for some hens. I want some hens that are actually laying. This is way too frustrating that we have chickens that are old enough to be laying and we are getting nothing from them.

I want hens that are not red/brown colored since that is what color our flock is predominantly and I want some variety. Orps would be ok, as would cochins or even turken or turken mixes. I'm open to considering any large fowl bird with a good temperament.

Quick question:
I have one chick that is a little wobbly (sp). Can I add save a chick to all of the water or do I give it just to the one chick?

Yeah you can do that, its basically electrolytes. I keep nutridrench on hand for chicks and my full size chickens :) Good stuff!

Oh... just a reminder, MIL is staying with us, so we've been BUSY!
