North Carolina

We are in Wilmington. 25 chickens right now, we have 7 - 7 week olds (4 barred rock, 2 RIR, and 1 EE) 16- 6 week old silver laced wyandottes, and 2 - 3.5 week old white silkies.

We built them a nice size run so they can be out but in, never had a predator issue other than the occasional hawk sitting on top and staring down at them, but then they just go inside. I would too if a murderer was staring in my window.

GA, They get "stunned" when hung upside down. They bleed out quickly and there is some mild jerking right before they die. I prefer this method because it allows the heart to continue to beat and pump more blood out. The birds aren't aware and most have their eyes closed way before I get there to slit the throat. A sharp knife and knowing a little anatomy is key. You are welcome to come out on the 9th and watch. I helped Bhep and NH process an extra rooster for each of them and they weren't scarred for life ;)

Jenna, has it already been almost 3 weeks!??! I can't wait to see the chicks from those eggs.

For the LF I give 1/2 an ml or 0.5ml, bantam 0.25ml. Part the feathers behind the neck and drop the liquid on their skin. For Duramycin I think I used 1 tablespoon per gallon.
Ok, so wanna make sure Im getting this straight....I am putting the INJECTABLE Ivomec on the back of the neck on the SKIN and NOT injecting it? Correct? Can anyone confirm the TABLEspoon verses a TEAspoon of the Duramycin per gallon...Ive been told both now....sorry I guess Im just reallllyt hick headed and very nervous over all this.
