Our mutual friend/enabler (Beth

) suggested we move them at night when they are gone to roost. I think last time we tried, we did it too early as they had not yet gone to "roost" and therefore didn't stay in the broody "inn". This time, I plan on waiting until they all put themselves away for the night, and once dark, go in like Ninjas and move them!! Thank you for the reminder too!!

I definitely need them these days as I often forget if I am coming, going or even awake!!

Ya know...I've never seen a black star. They are the multi-colored ones, most of them have a lot of buff overlaid on black. The mostly black ones with bits of copper are the BCMs. Well, there's a few of the mixes that are mostly black, too.

In this pic, the second one up from the bottom right is one. The one just above and slightly left, butt toward camera, is one. The buff cockerel is center. to his left are several of the mixes. There's another mix toward the back.
The one bottom right is a BCM,
Those are some VERY pretty hens......I am SOOOOOOO tempted
now if I can get DH to agree to just a few

okay need a little help. One of the buff laced polish is acting fine; actually getting little aggresive with the others so i pulled him. pretty sure he is a he. once i pulled him i notice a slight raspy sound and then what i assume a sneeze or maybe a cough. i listen to him and sometimes his breathing sounds fine and others it is raspy. what can i do to help him. first he is out of the flock by his lonesome and he does not act sick. please help me help him. i am actually holding him as i type this and that is weird because he has always been very skittish and does show to others he wants to be at the top of the pecking order.

About half and half I think. I plan on making notes when I move them and can examine each youngster one at a time. This is a different group than the ones from CSBs eggs. These are older by about three weeks. I'm going to let both groups grow out as long as I can before I do my picking and choosing.

Glad you got the posting sorted out. You've been missed.

Oh, and thanks for any possibility of BO eggs. I'll be happy to fetch when the time comes. And we'll see what you might like in exchange for them.

Ok, so I'm planning on getting a gift for my husband for Father's day. At first I was thinking something he's always wanted... now I'm thinking something that he needs is more practical. Not really practical so much as "giving him a break". He works 60 hour weeks and then comes home and helps me around here when he can. Between the animals, the house, the gardens and the kid... his 1 day off turns into ANOTHER job. I'm sure he could use more downtime with us then time doing chores.

Honestly, my hands are TOO full to take on anymore to help him, I take on more then I can handle! So I was thinking, since we broke the riding mower last year and I surely can't afford $1200+ for a new one right now . We've been borrowing my neighbor's and mowing her's each week as a thank you; which takes 4-6 hours every other sunday including weed eating. What IF I got us some bi-weekly lawn mowing service for the summer? It's not a lump sum up front, so I may be able to get some extra hours at work to cover it for a little while anyway. What would that normally cost for just under an acre? I really can't afford $100 each time, that would put it out of the question, but I was thinking he would SO appreciate the time back more then anything else I could get him.

Otherwise, I'll probably get him a new grill since ours is 8 years old and needs complete replacement of EVERYTHING on it. :p

Opinions or other ideas welcome.... I have to start saving now for whatever I end up getting him.

Last year he got nothing for father's day, birthday or Christmas... we were just in too deep of a jam since 2008. I really feel the need to do something for him. :)

Good afternoon to you all.........

So, here is the latest count on the eggs and hatching: 9 Wheaten Ameracuna's and 6 Wyandottes.......

Then I started reading about Swedish Flower Hens, needless to say, I have eggs on the way........ Prettiest birds I have ever seen, not APA cerified yet, but who cares....

anyone else on here keep SFH's?

I do! I just started raising them this year. I bought eggs from a BYC member in Raleigh and hatched out five. They are six weeks old now. They are such cuties, and they have a ton of personality. I just love them. Maybe I'll go out in a few minutes and get some pics of them....I haven't in a while, and I have been meaning to.

Apologies to those who want broodies, I am in Broody HE double toothpicks.

10 broodies!

I have three nesting boxes in my BLRW pen with 4 broodies in them.

UGH!
