Happy Wednesday Everyone! I've come to the conclusion that I need to make seperate pens for everyone and get my shed space back instead of it being the big coop. The new roo (rufio) is enjoying his new space and is doing me proud and not trying to mess with my lf hens....which if anyone is interested I have 2 hens, laying everyday except sunday, that need new homes. one is a cinnamon queen and the other is a black copper maran. They are both gorgeous but I have no room for them now

Just thought I'd pop on and say that so far in our hatch we are up to 3 (out of 13, SLOW go?!?) Mama is doing an amazing job!! She gets up, walks them outside to scratch for a few minutes then rushes back to sit on the rest of her eggs with the little ones in tow!! So far I can see: 1 blue-grey, 1 cream (buff??) and 1 that looks to be a mix of the previous 2! LOL. I will be sure to take photos next week or whenever mama is done sitting!! I think we're going to get an incubator & brooder system...this is just too stressful!!

I just had the largest egg ever!!! I went to fry it up so I cracked it and out pops a yolk and ANOTHER EGG!!!! So Again I cracked it and it was yolk...Anyone ever have an Egg In An Egg before??? It was crazy!

Not like that, but we did have an Ameraucana that always layed huge double yolks! I hope she gets a better rhythm

I got an egg exactly like that several years ago. The inside egg was a Jumbo and the overall shell was huge. The Barred Rock that laid it didn't lay again for a week, and then she laid her normal Jumbos from then on.

Looking forward to the FFF Show in November! Matt, isn't there a show at the Dixie Classic Fair in October or is that something different?
