:woot went to the doctor today and he told me my arm and ribs are healing up nicely! He said I don't need the rib brace anymore and to either wear the sling for another week or take it off and only wear it if it gets to hurting. Bad news, the tendon it my ankle was badly torn/seperated and my 2 options are surgery or an ankle brace for who knows how long. Seeing as I can't have anasthsia, I'm opting for the ankle brace. Anyway I'm starting to feel 100x better :celebrate.

Good morning everyone!!

Zak - why is it that all the "pretty" things are toxic?? I was just looking at that caterpillar and thinking it was rather pretty looking. Funny how things work that way!! Thank you for the photo and information though...I will be SURE to keep myself and DDs away from it if we see any!!

Have a great day all!!

.
I'm glad part of you is healing well. Hope the rest of you catches up to it. If you have to stay in the brace, I hope that at least it is pain-free.

Just thought I would share our 7 newest additions, the youngest being 1 week old today!! Having a rough day with 2 cranky little ones (teething and skipping naps = NO fun) so this brought me a smile...hope it brings you all a smile too.

Enjoy!!

Wild - SO glad to hear you are healing well!! We will continue to pray for a speedy recovery!!

Evening everyone,

So tonight I got bitten by something that feels like a jelly fish sting for the 3rd time this week. I have not been able to identify what this insect was until I found it tonight. Early last week I was mowing the yard and I remember feeling what felt like 5-10 bee stings on my left arm, but I never saw a bee, and it almost felt electrifying like a jelly fish. It REALLY hurt!

3 Days ago I was checking my laying boxes for eggs and it happened again on my ankle. This time it hurt worse, felt like I had been stung by at least 10 small bees, and again electric shock type pain. The area swelled up, and turned red. I took benadryl, and put benadryl cream all over the area that was red.

I have been literally racking my brain puzzles about what had bit me....

So tonight I go outside to check my coop for eggs, and I feel the sharp stabbing biting again this time penetrated through my shirt ALL over my upper back. I turned around really quick and saw some sort of lime green caterpillar with spikes on it, here is a photo I found from google.

This is called a Saddleback Caterpillar.
"These caterpillars have a pair of fleshy "horns" at either end, and these, like much of the body, bear urticating hairs that secrete an irritating venom. Stings can be very painful. They can cause swelling, nausea, and leave a rash that can last for days. Individuals with sensitive skin are cautioned against coming into contact with them as the reaction can be more severe than the typical reaction"

I have NEVER seen this bug before in my life. Anybody else been bitten by one of these devils? I have been sick for over a week and I am starting to think it has something to do with getting bitten/stung by this sucker 3 time!
We call them pack saddles and they are common in the corn field where they 'hide' under the long leaves and sting you on the way by! Nasty buggers they are yet very pretty indeed.
Be careful you could have a serious even life threatening reaction if you are sensitive.

Good morning folks

not many posting.........could BYC still be
having some issues????

I must admit......these middle-schoolers are quick
learners and are settling down. I have been told
this group were quite a problem route in the past.
It seems I always get a problem route and once
I get them trained and settled into a good route,
I get moved to a new route......such is life.....
always an adventure.........life is good

Good morn-- CSB I was having problems with emails on here mine fixed - saw on another thread more folks are having that problem so they may have other issues also. I could not handle the kind of job you have too old for that.

Good Morning, Everyone!

I haven't been having troubles other than being horribly busy. I pop in to read and am staying caught up with this thread, although not any of the others I usually read here. I haven't had much to say chicken-related, so have mostly been reading and moving on.

Hope everyone has a great day. Keep cracking that whip, CSB! You'll have them all growing up to be respectable, productive adults if you're not careful!
