I have a MIA rooster... My new boy I just posted a pic of? He escaped his pen and is now either hawk food or VERY good at hiding from my evil roo. I really hope he is just hiding again. Last night we found him under the porch (with a million spiders

Any one have any secrets to finding missing birds or luring them back? He was there and then 20 minutes later he was out. He couldn't have gone too far...

ETA: He has been found!! I went out and crowed to my big roo, which normally incites a crowing riot amongst my three boys... well today there were four voices crowing back at me. I followed the new voice and found him hiding in the shed underneath the tractor

Glad you found him! Aren't they funny!

Hey, does anyone know a local-to-Fayetteville area source for the water-soluable Tylan that I can use on turkeys? I can order it, and will if need be, but if I can find it here or in Lumberton, I'll just go pick it up.

I'm pretty sure I got my Tylan liquid at TSC. You could check at the farm store on the corner of Gillis Hill Rd and Raeford Rd.:

Um no, Raleigh is not too far... How much for your chicks and would it be possible to get 6 females? Maybe we could do next weekend.... Feel free to PM me.

TSC does sell a liquid Tylan but it's not the water soluable kind.....you give by injection or orally........not sure if Lake Rim has it either since their selection is smaller than TSC but it's possible..... or you can try Double LL Tack and Feed in Coats and they are open on Sundays.

I think I'll do some calling around. Probably should have done it yesterday; I wasn't thinking about stores being closed today. And yes, TSC has the injectable Tylan, but the water soluable is more effective in poultry. Hmmmm...maybe I'll just go ahead and order it.

Good Morning, Everyone! Have a great day!

Sorry about all the problems everyone has been having disease and predator wise

The deed is done. We have no chickens.

We bought this place in 2003. The people who sold it to us left behind one single chicken. We called her Nellie. It was shortly after we got here that we got chickens of our own, so this is the first time since at least July 2003 that there have been no chickens on this little farm. It's depressing.

Depending on test results, and if they decide to test a third time, we will be able to restock either the first of November or the first of December. Getting chicks at that time of year may not be possible, so we may still be looking at spring. Maybe six months of no chickens. It's like a horror movie that only certain people can understand.
