Tylan 50 works alot better injected just under the skin. While holding the bird I seperate the feathers on the back, lift the skin, and inject in the loose skin. The bubble of meds will adsorb quickly. I have treated both ways in the past and the injected gets into the system much faster.
Some inject directly in muscle, but when a couple of my Dutch got sick a few years ago the muscle injections almost killed them. Even with a lower dosage a muscle injection can cause damage around the injected area. Most birds it won't affect badly, but some it will.
