I STILL can't get up and used to the school schedule..... I sit here and dread daylight savings.

I guess I will have to start taking naps during the day.

Morning
What is the best way to figure out who lays which egg? I have one (I think just one) hen who is laying thin shelled or no shelled eggs. I am getting one every day or so and 17 regular eggs. I have 20 hens and I think they are all laying.

I think I read somewhere you can put food dye or lipstick :idunno on their vent and the coloring will come off on the egg. This is just a guess, I could be totally wrong.

Good morning everyone :frow
:welcome to The Howards.
Hope you are all having a great morning. My morning routine has gotten twice as busy, as I recently took in a 3 month old heeler/Pitbull and a 6 week old Rottie/Pitbull.
Well, I'm off to school and get some grocery shopping done.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I think you need to add calcium to their diet. You can get oyster shell from the feed store and leave it in a dish, they will eat as needed or feed back some eggs or shells or both to your chickens. Just boil them up..mash them shell and all.

I have read about that also.... I seem to remember a very funny story about that. I do believe the dye was a fail.

They have oyster shells and I feed eggs shells and eggs back. I think it is just one. Everyone else's eggs are good

I have also read about the lip stick trick. don't know if it works or not as I don't do lip stick. but they say to use different shades on the girls and to remember which is which shade and not to wear those sticks again.
