Good Morning, Chilly People!

Having to switch out the rabbit bottles first thing in the morning now, as the tubes freeze first. All the critter water was frozen yesterday (25 degrees here in the am), except for in the Juvenile Detention Center. The JDC was toasty enough that the chicks were in circles around their lamps. Nobody was directly under them. Could probably raise them a bit.

BETH...we can join the NYDH even if we aren't hatching? (I'm still hoping to find NPIP eggs in a breed I want by then!) I've put off joining since I had no eggs.

Back to work this morning...and must go in a bit early. Everyone enjoy the day!
Yes...you can enter some contest. Post # 1 list the contests that are going on each week. Like...cutest chick, flappers, poems etc.

Get with Greeneacres ...she has BLRW, Cochin, Sussex (forgot what color) anyway...she is NPIP and in Garner, but will ship your eggs.

Quote: Sent her a pm...thanks! And I'll check out the contest stuff.

edited to add.....her birds are molting. No eggs right now. I'll keep looking!

It is 61 degrees in my office, and 56 in the lab. I'm giving a lab practical in 15 minutes. I will have some unhappy students, but I spent two hours in there this morning setting it up, so I'm already frozen.

Light and coronation sussex as well as B/BW Ameraucanas. If only ANY of them were Laying at this point. I do get some Cochin eggs and one BLRW egg every week or so at this point. I'm not sure what I will have for myself to set fro NYD hatch.

At home waiting on wildlife rehab to come get some babies……
Went out to the coop this morning to do my chores and I heard a racket, sounded like something was killing my birds :( I rushed in to save them and found two young racoons  they are maybe 6-8 weeks old, old enough to walk but not do any damage. They were snuggled up in an unused nest box :love I moved them into a crate in the barn. They ate a can of cat food and took some milk, they are skinny and dirty, so I guess momma coon left or was killed by my trigger happy neighboor :(. Anyway wildlife rehab should be here soon to take them :D

What a sweet thing to do, some would just see them as vermin and kill them. I'm glad you didn't.
