I had a pip this morning before I left for work. Yay, I'll get to go home to baby chicks tonight (hopefully).
400

so, do you let them hatch in the egg turner tray? If the other eggs are not due to hatch for a week, what do you do? just take the hatchlings out?
I made the mistake of adding eggs to my bator and my other bator is full too, so i will have chicks hatching 1 week before other chicks? I do not have a bator to lockdown any eggs?
ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANYONE??? THANKS

@firedragon1982 are you the one who made a bator out of a coffee can? how did it come out? or was that @gimmie birdies who made the bator? I was thinking maybe i could make a small bator to lockdown some of my eggs??
Any suggestions??? Anyone?

P.S. did you all set a time and date for the next meet? is it at the pizza factory at 12pm or 2pm or later on the 19th??

That was me. I am not going to hatch for a bit, too busy, the coffee can was cute, but I have to get a better thermometer

It reads nice but the eggs seem too hot.
any how, I am just going into lockdown with eggs Uglyfoot gave me, she is going lockdown eggs I gave her.

Not me that made it lol. I have read you can place an egg into "lockdown" in some of those gladware plastic food storage bins depending on how many and if you're hand turning vs auto turner. Drill some holes in the top for ventilation, stick the eggs in there with some sponges... Read it on the goose egg forum, really going to depend on how many are due to hatch...

No update yet, I still haven't made it home. Left at 6:45 this morning. Hubby and I are at dinner now. I'll update as soon as I get home though. Hubby kept looking for me while I was at work and there was no progress.

As for what I do: when lockdown comes, I put the eggs that are going into lockdown in a stationary tray. And I keep candling nightly.. Once I see an internal pip, I up the humidity for about 48 hours until they hatch. When they internally pip, I also unplug the auto turner, so it doesn't hurt anyone. Once hatched, I move them to a brooder that is approximately 95 degrees.

I would need some kind of heat in the gladware, correct? or could i put the gladware in a tote w/a heat lamp hanging above?

i dont understand? so the lockdown eggs are still in WITH the incubating eggs that have NOT gone into lockdown yet? so they are both together in your incubator? And, if you have eggs in the egg turner, where do you put the stationary tray? do you take a row or 2 of the egg turning tray out? im sorry, i dont understand. can you show me a pic? or explain in a different way?

I incubate in one bator and hatch in another. I just make sure I leave a week in between adding eggs in the incubator so I have time for lockdown, hatch, and clean before the next set goes into lockdown

I was told can just put it in the incubator with the others, and then if you're manually turning, every time you open the incubator, you're not losing humidity from the gladware, and not having to turn them.
