I'm sorry about that. I know what it is like to lose chickens to predators.

What is everyone doing to keep their flocks cool in this heat?? some of mine are in their coops, in the shade and i change their water out 2-3x's a day. should i wet down the dirt/shaving floor? would this help them? just wondering what else i could do for them, they do not look stressed, i am just curious so i can prepare for hotter days? thanks

I gauge the heat by my rabbits mostly. If they are overheated, I will turn on the mister and the birds will cool off over there, otherwise, we just provide shade in plant of spots. This year, to help protect the rabbits, we put up a mesh tarp and the birds absolutely love it. They hang out in there all the time.

Thanks for the ideas. I thought about the misters, but we left ours at our old house. i could rig up the hose??
i like the fozen water bottles, i can do that easily, thanks. and the cool treats, like vegies from my garden that i will put in fridge for awhile.
we are getting rabbits in a few days, from the neighbors, i can do the same for them too, corect? cool treats, frozen water, etc?
thanks ladies
