My neighbors dogs just killed most of my birds

The only ones they didn't get are my mama and her 3 babies because they were in a separate room. My heart is breaking...I just can't believe it.

My neighbor's dog killed half of my flock last Fall. My husband chased the dog off with a bb gun. Neighbors didn't believe it until I showed them feathers in their yard! I know how sad that it is.

That's terrible. Our neighbors feel horrible and are going to pay for more eggs. Little do they know how much I had into my birds. All were hatched by me from eggs I won on Ebay.

It all depends on how well your older birds react to them. Mine would kill them at 9 weeks. Introduce them slowly. If you can seperate them but keep them visible to your established flock for a few weeks that would be best.

I have a section of the coop chicken fenced off so that either I can keep a broody or new chicks separated. I actually plan on moving chicks out at 4 weeks, with a heat lamp to that area. That was, they will acclimate at their own will and meet the flock for a few weeks before they can actually interact with them

I am sooooo sorry to hear about this! My heart is breaking for you. I have lots of eggs in the bator right now so If there is something that hatches you might be interested in I will share. I will let you know what I get. Next up is Blue laced red wyandottes. My mom lost parts of her flock twice to the same neighbors dogs. That is why I got the fluffy butt for her.

It is so heartbreaking. I was so attatched to them. I caught the dogs red handed. I was screaming. My neighbor feels really bad. I just don't understand how people can act so irresponsibly with their animals. Those dogs should never have come on our property.

That's so sweet

I just ordered a bunch of eggs off ebay. I'm going to be running both of my incubators. I ordered more brahmas, a variety of orpingtons and some black and blue copper marans.

Hello, and welcome to CDA. here is a thread that you may want to subscribe to

There are a few ladies that live near and around CDA that can most likely answer your Q. I live south of CDA and do not know the laws and regulations of CDA.
Thanks and welcome to BYC

Hi Ladies... I copied and pasted this Q and A. Maybe someone who lives near or around CDA can answer her Q...
Thanks

Okay my Peeps, my enabler husband has told me to set ALL the eggs I get from two days ago until the day of the Easter Hatch A Long. I am averaging between 6-8 a day. That could result in A LOT of chicks. I of course cannot keep that many, so I will be selling them all. How much should I charge for straight run, backyard mixes? I was thinking like $2.00 each.

What are you going to hatch. I am interested in a bantam or 2. Do you have any polish? Do you have pic on your profile album I can look at? thanks

I had 2 hatch, 1 that needed assisting.  Unfortunately that one died last night.  The other one that hatched is doing great.  Hoping its a boy but of course I won't know for some time.  I've decided not to do the EHAL because I need to try to figure out what is going on with my hatches.  I ordered a scale and new hygrometer for my next hatch.  A friend of mine is giving me some of her eggs to hatch to see how it goes with eggs that aren't shipped. I was supposed to get some of my breeder eggs this week but the seller hasn't shipped them yet. I'm kinda glad though because I need to figure a few things out.

Hi, Im sorry your hatches are not developing... my hatch rates are not very good either. I read so much and get so many different ways to incubate. I try some of them. When you figure it out will you share it with us? I would be the better for it. thanks.
