They are willing to pay for all new eggs. Not sure how they're going to fix the dog issue. We each have 10 acres. One of them took the dogs on a hike and stopped send a text. When she turned back around the dogs were gone. She feels really bad but people don't understand all the time and money I have into my birds. To them they're just chickens but to me they are so much more. They also know that my husband isn't afraid to shoot their dogs if it happens again. I'd hate for it to come to that though.
After my neighbors dog/s killed one of my husband's favorites roosters, and maimed another, they tried everything: higher fences, tethering them in the yard, etc. They finally put in an electric fence, the kind that has the shock collars.
They did offer to pay for the bird that I lost, but it's hard to replace sentimentality. Clyde was one of my first two chickens (his girlfriend's name is Bonnie). My neighbors are good honest people. I appreciate them like no other. I didn't ask or take any money for the chicken. I was just grateful They we're willing to go to such great lengths to make sure it didn't happen again.
