They know there is chickens, they came and talked with is when we were working on their coop last week. That and he came running to get his dog when he wouldn't listen to go home, asking if the chickens were ok.
Well that's a good sign.

Are you keeping a boy? They are some of the best roosters, kind and gentle...
I am not sure if we are keeping a boy, I was hoping to work with Ameraucanas but I only have 2 decent looking shipped eggs out of the 6+ I was sent. I am sanitizing and setting my other Am eggs and hoping they are fertile and that both parents are split to silkied.

What are you guys using for incubators? Do any of you use a commercial one? I have heard that ones that they sell at stores aren't very good and end up costing a lot with additional pieces. Thoughts?

@UGLYFOOT my 2 seramas I got from you are doing well. 1 boy and 1 girl. The boy is a silkie. I'll get pics in a little while.

I'm using a hovabator 1588 and I love it.

@Scram85I use a GQF Sportsman 1502. I paid a lot of money for it, but it totally has been worth it. It holds temp and humidity (as long as I remember to put water in) very well. I am going to add the bucket system I think.

@Hawk12 That is great news! How can you tell the sex already?
@CountryLovin You too, how do you know they are roos?

You guys must be way better than me to tell. LOL

Who all is in for the Easter Hatch Along? How many eggs did you all set?

Here they are...there's a pic of my brahma chick too ♡

The roo is the top picture, his comb is much bigger than the other so I'm pretty sure it's a boy. I can't sex my brahma yet but first instinct says it's a boy. Hope so because that's what I want ;)

My stupid mulit quote thing is not separating the different quotes so here is my answers in the order the quotes are seen. Are you keeping a boy? They are some of the best roosters, kind and gentle... Yes it is frustrating! I am fortunate to not have that problem here my neighbors dog was coming over before I had chickens but he got the buried fence/collar thing so they stay home now. I agree about talking to them and bringing eggs!! What a good show of trying to be understanding that would be. I have heard that Serama's can be pretty visious. Mine seem to be doing really well, I had to put them in with some younger chicks because the mixes they were with are HUGE compared to them. I lost one because I think it got squished in the brooder cave. I have not noticed any aggressive behavior though. Maybe I got all pullets. What is their feathering looking like? Any silkie or frizzle?
they look all smooth to me...
