Well, eggs are doing well in the bator....tues will make 2 weeks...but in other exciting. News..we had 2 beautiful boer goats born this afternoon about 2pm
this one is our lil girl and...
and this is our handsome lil guy!
Momma is a first timer and is lovin em both!!!

I love goats! We had them when I was a kid (no pun). My goat followed me like a puppy. I keep nagging my guy about getting one. Your kids are adorable.

My white pen carries blue. I had a splash cock bird in there a year ago trying to improve them.
Cool, carrying recessive white wouldn't make a blue bird an EE though right?

If she got a good breeder quality black or blue and bred it with the whites then those babes would be considered true Ameraucanas correct? They would just be split for white?

@pips&peeps would probably know best regarding these guys background. They are her birds ;)

Good question though. Cause I do have some blues coming soon.

She responded, the blue comes from your white boy.

It means that he is white, but blue underneath. Think of recessive white as a coat or shirt. It generally covers everything underneath.

If you want to sell the blue and black chicks, sell them to someone who will understand that they carry white and what that means so they can do something with them accordingly or just sell as ee.

Thanks for the easier explanation. :-)

Thank you!
I'm going to want to learn a bit more regarding the genetics before I sell any. And even if/when I do, I'll just sell as EE's.
The whole concept is confusing for me still.

Little Wynonna is starting look like a Waylan. Even chest bumping the serama roosters.

I've got a rule: I name them female, if it appears to need changed, they go to freezer camp. I can't be wrong, and there can be no proof if I was.

Ok, I've never actually named any earlier than I was able to sex them, except for my very first chick I hatched. It was named Uno. It turned out to be a boy and he turned into dinner. But most everyone else that gets hatched, gets sold.

Which breed is Wynonna?

At what age do you generally send them to freezer camp? I have 5 BCM that are 4 1/4 months old. They don't feel very meaty when i pick them up. I need to get them out of the pen, so i am going to probably just sell or give them away. They have bad toes, so I do not want to breed them.
