Hi there,
New to BYC from Chugiak. Currently got 3 red star hens, two comet pullets a jubilee cross roo and 3 baby chicks. Also, got some eggs in the incubator...can't wait.

I hear that the bear population is pretty high over there....if you don't have guardian dogs you might want to electrify your coop.

Yes, there are bears everywhere. We are getting two Burmese dogs to guard the property along with my husky that I plan on training for ski-joring. I think we are going to go head and electric the co-op anyway just to be safe.

I only have little black bears near my house... so I have been fine.

Achem.... as in I haven't had to use electric.

The black bears aren't too strong.

Around here the BB's ran all the Black bears off so the biggys are left
