Northeastern Poultry Congress (West Springfield) - Jan 17-18, 2009

Does anyone know if any Vermonters show or set up for this show?

I'm going to try to make it on Saturday. I am not showing birds, but I sent some eggs to the egg show the Marans Chicken Club is putting on.

I'm from southern Vermont.

I don't know how many are going, Heritage, this is my first poultry show. I have asked here and there doesn't seem to be much interest from Vermonters. I know of one person from the far southern end of the state has planned to exhibit. Seems most people going are only to go have a look and buy birds. Are you going to exhibit?

I do know there are no poultry shows in Vermont other than local 4-H stuff and the occasional swap.

I'm coming, in part because it's a convenient midway point to meet someone who is taking a silkie roo off my hands. So here's one of the stranger questions... Any suggestions about how to keep a chicken warm enough in the car while we go look at the show? (The roo is healthy, but not entered or officially banded or otherwise allowed into the show). Would bringing extra birds to share his cage be sufficient (works for shipping chicks...), and if so, how many birds in what size cage? Trying to balance uncomfortable crowding against uncomfortable chill. And while we're at it, anyone interested in some 7 mo old White Langshan pullets? They're fine and laying freckled eggs; they're just less interesting than some of the chicks we're looking at ordering this spring...
