Roosterfry, you rock
Great info! I was also burning up the internet for a couple of hours today looking for information on NJs too. ~SIGH~ If only I could read in Norwegian. I did find out that the World Poultry Science Association will hold a meeting in Stavanger, Norway June 23-27
2014 Anybody want to go?
I totally agree with you that the variations are slight! For instance, in the pic you posted of the Light Pair, the Roo has quite a bit of yellow/browns on his breast and back, with considerably dark gray tail feathers and some gray barring on a few of his tail coverts.
In the next pic of the pair of Roos, the Light Roo appears to have completely white tail feathers and minimal yellow/brown on his breast. His back appears to be solid white.
Is it just me or do these look totally different from each other??
In pic #6 of the pair of Lights, the Roo looks very similar to a couple of my Roos.
But your picture of the difference between the Light and Dark chicks really nailed it down for me. No confusion there, I've got Darks. Yay!
Thought I'd post a couple more pics of my flock I took this morning. Note the snow in the background. We're supposed to have lows of 7-12 degrees tonight
No heat lamp for my babies, just lots of dry straw and shavings. Hope they thrive in cold climates as claimed!
The Roos have much more brown/yellow in them than appears in the pic. And then there's my oddball little pullet with the group.
